Sexyloutak Absolutely the worst movie.
SparkMore n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
Teddie Blake The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Scotty Burke It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review
Bobby Hollywood There are some mess-ups with technical stuff in the movie, but for me that did not take away from the movie, I enjoyed all of it, and thought some of the special effects were pretty good. It was well worth my time, and after it ended, I felt that I had seen a good movie, that's more than I can say for some movies now-a-days. Rent or own, in my humble opinion it is worth the price, I would own it:)
MrGKB ...this confabulation of a semi-popular cultural myth still has its appeal, if only as a sort of big screen "Twilight Zone" episode. "The Philadephia Experiment" tacks a love story onto a tale of a WWII sailor transported forward in time by an invisibility experiment gone awry. The science is typical Hollywood bogus, production values are somewhat laughable by current standards, but the real problem with the film is the limpness of the love story, which is all that transcends the routine science-fantasy of the rest of the tale. Sadly, responsibility for this must fall on protagonist Michael "Streets of Fire" Michael Paré's co-star, Nancy "Dressed to Kill" Allen, who is not only noticeably older than her on-screen paramour, but also plays things with almost wooden restraint, never mind the occasional tears for effect. This viewer couldn't buy the romantic angle; Paré and Allen simply didn't share a convincing chemistry. Also features a very early appearance of veteran character actor, Stephen "I'm a very busy guy" Tobolowsky, and a nice turn by Eric "Porky's" Christmas. If any 80s movie begs for a remake, this is one of them. A smarter script, top-rank effects, and better acting/directing could turn this into something worth more than idle viewing entertainment.
lawnmowermantx One thing for certain, there is controversy about this Experiment, and the only 'issue' I have is the audio. I had to crank the audio just to hear the movie. Also, the music well played, and my concern about launching "David" in the center of the vortex w/out the truck being taken up also. I rented the DVD of this movie from Netflix, but I was disappointed of the missing deleted scenes, or director's cut edition. Is there a way to improve the audio, and add all of the missing scenes? I would give it a 10! :) But our government knows what's best for its voters. :) I also wonder, if there is an updated remake of this movie, and keep the original cast and crew? I wonder if there are other projects the U.S. Navy has kept secret? Then again, less I know the less I have to testify. :)
gcd70 "The Philadelphia Experiment" may not be a classic, but I really enjoy sci-fi time travel flicks like this. The plot is a clever one, and director Raffill propels it at a good pace, always keeping the viewer interested. The film never outstays its welcome. The special effects crew have fun, although their offering is fairly tame compared to what we've seen in the last fifteen years. Michael Pare is the perfect unaffected hero, and it is surprising his star didn't rise higher than this. As his rescuer and best girl, Nancy Allen does well too. I wonder what became of her.Friday, January 7, 2000 - Video
