Acensbart Excellent but underrated film
Helloturia I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.
Humaira Grant It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Sarita Rafferty There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
Tom Dooley I watch a lot of films and I am always prepared to give a film a go even when it has been widely criticised as often there is a saving grace. This is one where I was sorely self deluding. It is about seven friends who decide to commemorate the one year anniversary of a friend's death – Brendan – by going to the middle of nowhere in Connemara and making a video for the dead guy's family. A card would have been a better idea lads. They hire a bloke called Stefan to film them; I mean seriously anyone can hold a camcorder cant they? But no not this pro as the film constantly breaks and fuzzes and then cuts out and becomes ultra annoying. For the first 31 minutes we get scene setting which is basically 'the lads' acting immature whilst the camera malfunctions. When we move on to the actual 'action', the bits you want to see are nearly all done off camera! There is some good acting – which was surprising to be honest and the make up was good. However, the complete void of originality, character development, script and anything actually happening made for this to be utterly unwatchable. Oh and they make the most stooped decisions – repeatedly too. The director of this barfathon is credited as SPK. So you are so embarrassed about this god-awful tripe you would not even put your name to it? I am just guessing but this is my contender for the most pointless piece of film making ever – this was more annoying than a three year old constantly asking why? But that is the only question that this could possibly engender – why indeed.
Erik Vanlier Review by Golden State Haunts and EventsIn The Pigman Murders seven friends hike to the Connamara mountains in Ireland with a hired cameraman in tow to film a documentary to give to the family of a friend who died from stomach cancer a year earlier. The movie is a found footage piece that combines elements of The Blair Witch Project and The Hills Have Eyes.We don't find out enough about the friends or their background to really sympathize with them when the attacks start to happen. Basically, we see them for a few moments meeting each other after not having seen each other for a long time before they take off for the wilderness where they talk on camera about their friendship with their fallen friend and give a message to the family. After tensions rise while on the trip between a few of the friends they stumble upon a man who's badly beaten who tells them about some killers in pig masks who killed his girlfriend. The masked men also took one of the friends' own so they each go off in their own direction to look for him.The friends start getting killed one by one. We don't really see the killings, only the aftermath. The pigmen also aren't seen all that much until the end of the film, but there's sound effects of pig grunts and snorting. There is one creepy scene where one of the masked men is seen only for a brief second through night vision. We don't find out why the masked men are in the wilderness which is kind of frustrating. We would like to know why a group of three men in pig masks are hanging out in the wilderness just waiting for people to kill. The movie never really builds up any suspense and there doesn't seem to be much of a story arc. After a slow beginning to the film the killings just happen suddenly with no explanation. We weren't impressed with The Pigman Murders, but if you're into movies like Motel Hell where people kill dressed in a pig mask you might want to check it out.
galwaysummer Very entertaining film made in our little city. Well done to all involved. Very good watch.Taught most performances were sold especially leading character Paulie (Mark Hutchinson) who I taught stuck out a lot more to the rest. Sometimes the camera was a bit too shaky but you get over that after 10 minutes into the film. I knew a lot of city locations buy MY GOD the scenery ye used in Connemarra was outstanding. I taught the Sammy (Gerard Fallon) and Pete (Ollie Keogh) characters were weakest out of the lot and for me didn't really fit in to the roles. What I was impressed with most was it was shot of such a low budget but you wouldn't notice at all as was sold well done and editing was very, very impressive. Well done to all involved and I look forward to part two which I believe is shooting this summer.
syphongb Absolute rubbish, there is nothing good to say about this film. We watch films with worst ratings than this and they turn out better.Complete lack of atmosphere, sound, makeup, special effects, acting, music, plot, it has NOTHINGI have no idea how this was even allowed to be released...we weren't expecting The Exorcist at this level of film making but this is without doubt the worst horror movie we have ever seen.I could have done better with my mates and a phone, in fact I think this is how this film was made.Avoid!
