Roy Hart If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

bon-ami-2 The first half of it is interesting, a beautiful love story. The middle part is touching. And the final part really made me think. To think about life, time and love. It is one of the very few movies that makes me think after viewing it. Though, because of living environment, I cannot understand some parts of it, such as Nixon and Republicans. If I could, I probably will give it a higher score. So it is hard for me to write much about the essence of the plot. I was so astonished when I saw Americans paraded for gays' rights already in the 1970's. But so far, it is good enough. It consists unawareness, happiness, twist, death and not being able to control.

Mark Brown I have never really been much into "gay films" because they all seemed to be too cliché and unrealistic for my liking. The problem with many films of this genre is that they take all the stereotypes associated with gay people, and mold them into a sort of plot that is full of everything "gay" without any real substance. When I watched "The Trip" I was presented with a film that really made you care about the characters and what happens to them. Especially in the "post Brokeback" era where that film seems to have become the ultimate symbol of the "gay love story" I enjoyed seeing a love story that is equally as complex, and full of feeling as this new blockbuster hit.I found "The Trip" to be an excellent, well directed and well acted movie that does a good job of mixing the story with the current social and political climate of the period. This is a film that I would encourage anyone interested in a good love story to watch this film

philipt1978 I absolutely fell in love with this film it was funny and sooo romantic and was everything I look for in a movie for gay men and their followers! The film was compelling and the romance between the two leads was the best I have seen in a very long time. Also Jill St. John was great and raised the question where has she been! However, to me the film changed and at the end of one of the most wonderfully romantic films, I was watching one of the saddest I have ever seen. All I can say was that a great film left me hugely depressed and I wondered why can't their be a happy ending for any gay films that deal with romance as well as this one did? This is film not real life and when you make a loving couple so lovable together what the director did was wrong. Sorry if you disagree but these are my feelings! P.S I was so upset by the end I had a nightmare and I never get them from films!

tomsfivestars As a gay man I was totally floored by the performances in the movie, "The Trip." In particular, the acting of Steve Braun (Tommy Ballenger) and Larry Sullivan (Alan Oakley) was magnificent. I've watched the DVD now at least fifteen times. I've even had straight friends watch it with me who thoroughly enjoyed it as well.Steve Braun is definitely stunning to look at and his range of emotions shown through Tommy is absolutely brilliant. I just can't seem to get enough of him in "The Trip." If you rent the DVD, make sure you check out all of the "special features," but particularly the one with the characters commenting throughout the film. It was really interesting hearing all of the particulars that took place while doing the actual filming of the movie. Kudos to Miles Swain (writer and director) for this warm, beautifully written and poignant love story.
