Synopsis

Chan Hui Lau stars in this vintage martial arts film as Chang, the owner of a winery and master of Drunken Boxing, a deadly kung fu technique that, as the name implies, requires its practitioner to be drunk. His relatively peaceful life is interrupted when he catches two boys (Li Yi Min and Jack Long) stealing grapes from his vineyards and puts them to work for him. Over time, he teaches them the art of Drunken Boxing. When the two boys get into a fight with some local toughs, they provoke the wrath of Yeh Hu (Lung Fei), Chang's enemy.

Organnall Too much about the plot just didn't add up, the writing was bad, some of the scenes were cringey and awkward,
SparkMore n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
Adeel Hail Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
Erica Derrick By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
ckormos1 Simon Yuen does a few moves before the opening credits and then disappears from the movie. The two drunken masters in this movie are Mark Lung and Jack Lung. Li Yi-Min also plays a younger version of one of them. The two men who love sweet premium wine and the girl who ferments it have reunited because they were both sent letters to be at this place. Most of the movie then takes place in flashback but it is easy to follow. The next time I watch this movie I plan to use a stopwatch and calculate the time spent fighting compared to the run time of the movie. There are a few movies that have almost 60% action but this movie seemed to exceed that. I actually felt worn out just from watching the fights. The action was relentless and almost non-stop. More remarkable was the quality of the action. The reason for that was the action director, Yuen Cheung-Yan, from the legendary clan and son of Simon Yuen from the first scene. This movie has my highest recommendation for anyone who wants to watch an action packed movie.
qsmurf What a awfully wonderful film - I bought the DVD very cheap and have seen it several times with friends, drinking the sweet premium and practicing the Drunken Style afterwards, and using the dialogue wherever possible. It's probably a lot more classy than I imagine, but it's very dated and let down by the dialogue. But it goes on and on, with lots of fighting, and the DVD has an excellent trailer (complete with spelling mistake). Lots of fighting, nothing too horrible; it should be a poignant and touching tale, but I'm usually too drunk to really care! Watch it, but all in good fun!
sam-330 the precise though beautiful photography used in the film was magnificent though this in comparison to the actors work is deeply inferior. Fung Lei is my hero, i have seen every one of his films, his mastering as an actor sucked me into the world of the drunken master and i've been unable to escape ever since. fne.
owenspurs this film really brings out the true world and story of what could happen if and when anyone turns to drink, i think Fin Lei is the most sublime and wonderful actor i have ever been privileged to experience and i await the sequel...
