Dirtylogy It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
AshUnow This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Sabah Hensley This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
Quiet Muffin This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
Fat Freddy's Cat Curious that this was released in the same year as 'Walk The Line', because I saw a lot of parallels. Dirt poor boy from the backwoods becomes country music star. Also having a brother who dies horribly. I loved the performances by the parents and the child actors in close up focus but didn't feel emotionally overwhelmed by the big picture of their story. I think you would need to be Brazilian and a fan of ZC&L to feel that. There was a kind of presumption in the way it suddenly moved to its conclusion that we all knew the story from there on in - ZC&L become big stars. For those of us who had never heard of them before, we suddenly realise it's a fan-pic, and this comes as quite a surprise. I was a big fan of 'The Man in Black', who was obviously famous through the English speaking world, so I loved 'Walk the Line', but also felt it had more universal appeal in its message. This movie was preaching to the converted. 6/10
Debora Silva This is a true story about two brothers - Zeze di Camargo and Luciano. In this movie, you will see the struggles their family went through with not even having any money for food. Their father's biggest dream was to have his kids become country starts. By selling all his crop to purchase an accordion, he gave that to his son as a gift and told him to learn it on his own! The kids start playing in the bus station for money (to buy food)...This movie has been beautifully been put together. It has great acting, including from the children, who sing their hearts out throughout the entire movie! This is truly and inspirational story of how your dreams can come true if you really fight for them!
Dppkjz This is one of the best Brazilian's movies I've ever seen. It's touching, well done and has great performances! There were lots of actors who were on their first movie and they did an awesome job! It's a very beautiful and emotional story that shows the life of a very poor family and a father that saw success on his two son's.I can say that lots of people would cry on this movie. This production shows how Brazilian's cinema has improved through the years and has gotten better and better! The box office proves what I've said before. It has been the most watched movie in Brazil for weeks and it still brings lots of people on the theater!Breno Silveira deserves more than an award for "2 Filhos de Francisco".
Francisco França The film shows the beautiful and touching story of the famous Brazillian country music duo Zezé di Camargo and Luciano. However, it won't be interesting to non-Brazillian, since it is the same old cliché: poor boys who managed to climb over the misfortunes of life and got successful. In fact, even for Brazillians it can be rather boring: the editing is terrible. The rhythm is so slow I almost fell asleep while watching. The photography is acceptable, the best feature in this movie.Zezé di Camargo and Luciano are quite pretentious when they believe this film about their story will be nominated for an Academy Award. During the Formula 1 GP 2005 they even said that "other films have been nominated and couldn't manage to win, maybe this is Brazil's chance to win an Oscar". If "O Quatrilho", "Central Station" and "City of God" didn't make it, is it really their film who will bring us an award? If it does, I will really start to believe that the Oscar is a fraud.
