Rosie Searle It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
annuskavdpol This movie is about three stories. First it about financially saving the Metropilitian Theater in New York, second it is about the technicians and decision makers and third it is about the director of the movie whose story is told through the images of the film. The most interesting story, is the unconscious story by the director of the movie. The story is laced with two themes, one an inferiority complex and second, a grandiose personality disorder. The inferiority complex has to do with Wagner. Wagner is a symbol of supreme nature. He is the icon of humanity, but he is also destructive in his ideologies. The director's choice of filming this work means to me that something is lacking in his/her life to want to compensate and fill the void with this great hero. This theme falls into the grandiose nature of the film maker. The filming of the machine is a symbol of the human psyche. All of the components of the machine were so vast, that they were unnecessary. The presentation was more like, look what I can create versus is this really contributing to the production. The film maker, seemed to have been organizing the shots in such a way as to contribute to the outcome of the production. This intertwining technique in film is fantastic because it seems like the main message of this work, is to create and lead versus be contained and assimilated.
