Tacticalin An absolute waste of money
Beystiman It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
HottWwjdIam There is just so much movie here. For some it may be too much. But in the same secretly sarcastic way most telemarketers say the phrase, the title of this one is particularly apt.
filippaberry84 I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
cinephile-27690 I love Steven Spielberg, and while it wasn't bad, I didn't love it. He made Catch Me if You Can, which I told everyone who crossed my path about for months. This made me sleep for bits and while it was good, it didn't captivate me. The horse with the girl was the best part. Not his, best, not his worst.
paulclaassen Nominated for 70 awards (including 6 Oscar nominations) this is a masterpiece. 'War Horse' is an amazing story of loyalty and friendship - between man and horse, and between horse and horse. The cinematography and photography is fantastic. It was engaging to see how the horse got passed on from one person to the next, and how they fell in love with him, and the effect he had on them. Steven Spielberg has a reputation for directing child stars, but I must admit newbie Celine Buckens, who played Emilie, was really bad and unconvincing. Fair enough, it was her first role, but still. I also found it annoying for the Germans to speak English with German accents. They should have spoken German, with English subtitles. I understand Spielberg wanted to make an all-English language film, but this rendered a lot of scenes unconvincing.Spielberg's war scenes are incredible and disturbing. A particular scene of the horse getting tangled in barb wire was especially disturbing. Then there was a fantastic scene where the enemy came together to save a horse. Truly inspiring. The film does get a bit sentimental at times, but in general this was really awesome!
kijii Somehow I was able to grind my way through this VERY boring 2.5 hour movie, perhaps because I thought I should see any movie that had been nominated for 6 Oscars, including Best Picture. John Williams score was, as usual, very good and the art production is very good too. However,if one is not interested in either dark war movies (World War I) or horses, there is very little here for one to connect to. A horse is born, goes an odyssey, with hardships and many owners, and is finally reunited with its original owners. This movie is a Steven Spielberg-Kathleen Kennedy production, and one usually is not disappointed with the movies they make. However, I can only say, I'm sure glad it didn't spend the money or time to see it in a movie theater.
Miguel Neto Steven Spielberg is one of the best directors in film history, if not the best, made remarkable films as The Schindler List, Saving Private Ryan, Munich, Jaws, Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones trilogy, it is sad to see this great director is currently making only middling films, I hope he gets back to make great movies, War Horse is only reasonable, has a good soundtrack, impeccable photography, great costumes and a good cast, the script I found a bit lazy, had moments that I found very played, the direction of Spielberg is good more he loses hand after the half, the battle scenes are good technically, more does not excite, the acting is weak, the best actor is the horse, the special effects are good, the pace is kind of slow, the movie is too long, I liked the first 30 minutes after the film worsens, and an hour is well drawn, War Horse is an average movie has positive points, negative points stands out, Spielberg is losing the quality of your old movies. Note 5.0
