Incannerax What a waste of my time!!!
SmugKitZine Tied for the best movie I have ever seen
Lancoor A very feeble attempt at affirmatie action
Afouotos Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
LeonLouisRicci Super-Slick, Double-Starred Action Flick. A Kung-Fu Wannabee that Lacks the Grit and Fun of Hong Kong Movies and is Poorly Directed by a Graduate of the Music-Video World of Hyper-Editing, Close-Ups and Hysterical Hubris that Believes that Gloss is Great and Alternating between Fast and Slow Scenes is Fantastic Filmmaking. It Squanders the Opportunity to Capitalize on the Box-Office and Fanboy Appeal of Jet Li and Jason Statham. So much so that it Borders on the Blasphemous. They have Exactly two Scenes Together. One Talking, One Fighting. Neither are Remarkable in any way.The Revenge Story is Standard Stuff with a Bloated Plot about a Yakuza/Triad War with Our Two Anti-Heroes bouncing in and out of the Story between a lot of Serious Talk and Melodramatics about Tradition, Family, Alliances, and Bullet Casings. Not an Awful Movie but a Monumental Waste of Money and Kick-Butt Talent. Worth a Watch for Fans of the Stars but is Overall Disappointing.
Wizard-8 You might think that a movie that has both Jet Li and Jason Statham would have a lot of promise, especially since the movie managed to get the great Corey Yuen to choreograph the fight scenes. But the movie manages to be a big disappointment. Oh, the movie looks pretty slick and polished, and the script does have a couple of (so-so) twists. But despite my love of action films and being fans of the two stars, I wasn't terribly interested while watching the movie. There's surprisingly little martial arts action, and what there is is so badly directed and edited that it can't hold a candle to the expert martial arts found in Hong Kong films. In fact, the other action in the movie (gun battles, etc.) is also badly directed and edited. The screenplay is also substandard, with a slow-moving and pretty boring story, as well as there being no character we really sympathize with, at least before the last few minutes. Also, action fans will likely be annoyed that Li and Statham don't share that much screen time together. What a waste of talent!
Jackson Booth-Millard You would think a film with a title as simple as this could be used for something more substantial, i.e. an actual war film, but no, they waste it on this. Basically FBI agent Jack Crawford (Jason Statham) is obsessed with finding Asian assassin Rogue (Jet Li), after he killed his partner, wife Jenny (Andrea Roth) and kids. He is taken into a world of guilt and betrayal, and Rogue does eventually come out of hiding to set off a bloody war between Asian mob rivals Chang (John Lone) of the Triads and Yakuza boss Shiro (Audition's Ryo Ishibashi). So it is not just Crwaford trying to catch Rogue that is the "war, but this one that is supposed to be a bit bigger, I will be honest, I was only paying attention to the two stars returning after The One, oh, and this time, the good guy doesn't win. Also starring Devon Aoki as Kira, Luis Guzmán as Benny, Saul Rubinek as Dr. Sherman, Sung Kang as Goi, Mathew St. Patrick as Wick and Nadine Velazquez as Maria. I remember maybe some banter, a lot of guns shooting, some explosions, Li riding a bike, and samurai sword fights, but apart from this, it's nonsense and brainless (not in the good way) action, and not a good thriller. Adequate!
Angelus2 Jet Li is a accomplished martial artist who has proved himself over and over again, just look at 'Unleashed', a fantastic martial arts movie. And then we have this piece of atrocity, it reeks with bad writing and bad acting.A cop is on the hunt for an assassin who is able to change his face by using surgery...What makes this cop 'different' is that he is looking for revenge....This assassin killed his partner....But this assassin has returned to eliminate the Japanese Yakuza and the Chinese Triads of San Francisco. This is simply bad...The acting from the gangsters is far too similar to a gangster movie entitled 'The Godfather' maybe you've heard of it...I found the Yakuza boss's daughter to be hilarious....But I guess the director wanted the audience to be scared...The action is mediocre, which in my opinion is shocking considering that it is a Jet Li movie.
