Synopsis

A young boy asks his pregnant mother if he will like his baby brother, and he asks her if she has a brother. This sends the mother, Lisle, on a reverie of her relationship with her older sister, Aurora, when they were kids and their mother was dying. Flashbacks show the contrasting reactions of the two girls, Aurora's anger and Lisle's innocent determination to find her mother. The boy's questions also prompt Lisle to visit Aurora and to tell her a story.

Afouotos Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
GarnettTeenage The film was still a fun one that will make you laugh and have you leaving the theater feeling like you just stole something valuable and got away with it.
Brendon Jones It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
lilysky101 I will be the first to admit that I cried while watching this short film. This particular short film hit fairly close to home. When I was about the same age as little Lisle, my mother passed away. I also have an older sister. That's about where the similarities end when it comes to plot. But the tears never stopped flowing. I was an absolute mess when Aurora is screaming at Lisle about not getting to say goodbye to their mother. The entire interaction between Aurora and Lisle throughout the film deeply reflected how my own sister and I interact, even as children. The mature older sister, the immature, silly, rambunctious little sister who doesn't understand.Definitely hits close to home.Simply gave it a 9 because Lisle's animated dream was the most boring part of the film.
johnhoffmann-117-202405 I cannot believe this is the result of all the effort and hype for this "contest". I was so disappointed. The film is very saccharine, maudlin and "uncreative". The screenplay was amateurish in all respects. It is, technically, fairly well shot and at times looked "pretty" but that doesn't make up for it's lack of any other positive quality. I don't think any of the festivals it played at would have accepted it without the Howard name attached. I would have fallen asleep if the toothache it gave me didn't hurt so badly. Mr. Howard mentioned a new contest to come. Please get a more experienced screenwriter for the next one. This first result might not make a good point for another go at it. Having to piece together a quality product from bits and pieces proves the whole is not always better then the sum of its parts. If this is what Howard and daughter will put out, maybe someone else should be given a shot. Maybe this is why Ron does not direct anything he writes. Story conceiving is not his strong point if this is what it produces. I like most of his work but he should stick to directing other's conceptions. Better luck next time.
Bigrob2623 If you have lost someone "When you find me" will touch your heart. To watch a movie with such visuals that go with the story are wonderful. The acting was very well done from all actors in this film. The script was crafted with warmth and as for directing Bryce Dallas Howard you did a superb job for your first time out. If you have 30 minutes of time I would encourage watching. As for me I felt the pain of these women not just for seeing how hurt they are but for the fact I lost my father when I was 18 and it will be 5 years ago on December 22nd. I know the pain to well and could feel every tear, every heart ache and how life moves on which is not easy for everyone. Sometimes you need a movie like this to open you back to life which has brought you down. I hope you consider watching. The tragedy of life is not so much what men suffer, but rather what they miss. ~Thomas Carlyle
