Livestonth I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
Calum Hutton It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...
Marva-nova Amazing worth wacthing. So good. Biased but well made with many good points.
Skyler Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
callanvass Live from Los Angeles, CAAttendance 16,158Your commentators are Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan The Rockers Vs Haku & The BarbarianThe Rockers win. Great way to start the show. The Rockers can carry anybody to a good match...but The Barbarian and Haku held up their end of the bargain for sure. Fun opener with a red hot crowd*** out of 5Regis Philbin, Marla Maples, and Alex Trebek are guests at WrestlemaniaThe Texas Tornado Vs Dino BravoKerry Von Erich wins with a Discus Punch. This match was horrible. Bravo could barely move at this juncture because he was so roided up.3/4* out of 5The Warlord Vs "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy SmithDavey wins with a running powerslam. Surprisingly, this didn't suck. Crowd was red hot and Davey was a great worker.** out of 5Tag Team TitlesThe Hart Foundation (C) Vs The Nasty BoysThe crows is nuts for The Hart Foundation. The Nasty Boys win the titles due to cheating. Pretty decent match overall. It's admittedly not a favorite of mine, but it is decent for sure.**1/2 out of 5Blindfold MatchJake "The Snake" Roberts Vs Rick "The Model" MartelJake wins. The match is technically terrible...but it was made somewhat fun by the crowd interaction and the dedication from the performers. It managed to make it fun.N/RThe Undertaker Vs Jimmy "Superfly" SnukaThe Undertaker wins with a Tombstone. 1-0. Undertaker's first ever Wrestlemania would turn out to be a streak nobody would ever forget. Snuka was a well-enough established name to make it relevant.*1/2 out of 5Retirement Match"Macho King" Randy Savage Vs The Ultimate WarriorThe Warrior wins. Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth reunite afterwards. One of the best examples of storytelling you'll ever see. It triumphs everything. It has the perfect combination of everything. This is what wrestling is missing these days. I wouldn't call it a technical classic...but the way they told the story is everything and the psychology is outstanding. Absolutely incredible stuff all around. The reconciliation of Elizabeth and Savage is just icing on the cake. Everybody in the arena was crying and every time I watch this match, I always seem to get teary eyed too. This match represents everything I love about wrestling and it should have been the main event.***** out of 5The Undertaker and Paul Bearer measure Regis Philbin for a potential bodybag. Hilarious!Alex Trebek gets scared by Jake Roberts and Damien.Demolition Vs Tenryu & KitaoTenryu & Kitao win. Pretty boring match that the crowd was completely dead for. Even with the intermission, the crowd was exhausted from the Warrior and Savage match.*1/2 out of 5Intercontinental ChampionshipMr. Perfect (C) Vs The Big BossmanThe Big Bossman wins by DQ. Andre The Giant makes one of his last WWF appearances to help out The Big Bossman. Really fun match here between these two. Its high-energy and really underrated. Crowd was red hot for it.***1/4 out of 5Earthquake Vs Greg "The Hammer" ValentineValentine had an ill-advised face turn at this juncture. Earthquake wins. Valentine got in a surprising amount of convincing offense. A little more than a glorified squash.*1/4 out of 5The Legion of Doom say Power & Glory will be sour and gory when they are through with them.Legion of Doom Vs Power & GloryLOD wins in 2 minutes. Power & Glory's push was officially over. Nobody could take them seriously after this. DUDMillion Dollar ChampionshipVirgil Vs Ted Dibiase (C)Virgil wins by countout. Sensational Sherri joins Ted Dibiase after the match in beating down Piper until Virgil makes the save. Virgil helps Piper up. Terrible match...but the wonderful drama at the end is great stuff.* out of 5The Mountie Vs Tito SantanaThe Mountie wins with the shock stick. Pretty much a glorified squash. 1/2* out of 5WWF ChampionshipSgt. Slaughter (C) Vs Hulk HoganHogan wins the title. Shocker...hey? Pretty boring main event. Good to make the crowd go home happy...but it doesn't come close to Savage and Warrior. This really shouldn't have main-evented...but it is what it is. Technically, it was an easy choice to make the crowd happy. Hogan had way too much offense here and Slaughter barely looked like a threat.*1/4 out of 5This Wrestlemania is a tad underrated. It's certainly not perfect...but I gotta give it a thumbs up.7/10
zkonedog More than any other period to this point in Wrestlemania history, it seems as if the entire WWF roster changed from VI to VII. Yet, it is pretty much a change for the better, as older, less relevant wrestlers take a back seat to a whole new generation. The highlights of this event for me include:-The British Bulldog (always a fan-favorite) in a singles match with The Warlord. -The Hart Foundation (now solidly in the babyface camp) taking on the new Nasty Boys tag team. -The first WM appearance for The Undertaker (with Paul Bearer, of course!) -The epic "retirement match" between "Macho King" Randy Savage and the Ultimate Warrior. Probably the best overall match of the entire event in terms of both execution and excitement. -Mr. Perfect, one of the greatest technical wrestlers the WWF had ever seen, against the Big Boss Man, who could execute moves very well for a big guy and had a great persona to boot. -Even the Virgil/DiBiase feud was kind of fun.Ironically enough, however, the reason I can't give Wrestlemania VII the full five stars is because the final Hulk Hogan vs. Sgt. Slaughter match just isn't very good at all. The buildup is incredible and it may have been one of the most publicized matches of all-time playing on the tensions surrounding the Gulf War at the time, but the match just doesn't live up to the hype. Nowhere near the Hulk/Warrior clash of a year earlier. There is also a shakeup in the broadcast booth for this event, with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan replacing Jesse "The Body" Ventura beside Gorilla Monsoon. I have always thought that "The Body" was one of the best color commentators the WWF ever had, and while "The Brain" is okay, that great Monsoon/Ventura chemistry is no longer apparent.Overall, though, this is a solid Wrestlemania. What it lacks in a "grand finale" it more than makes up for with an infusion of new, fresh talent into the business.
bh_tafe3 To be honest I've got no idea if this was actually billed as a double main event show, but it certainly should have been. The build to both big matches: Randy Savage vs The Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan vs Sgt Slaughter started at the Royal Rumble. On that night Sgt Slaughter defeated The Ultimate Warrior to win the WWE Championship thanks to Savage, who knocked out Warrior with his King's sceptre. Hogan had won the Royal Rumble, and even though that didn't officially lead to a title shot back in 1991, it certainly gave the rarely beaten and in form Hogan a claim to a title match, which he would receive tonight. So it was Savage/ Warrior, with the loser forced to retire and The Real American Hulk HOgan taking on Iraqi sympathiser Sgt Slaughter. This show was considered a financial disappointment at the time it happened, though fans in nearly twenty years on can't complain as it gave us one of the greatest matches in WWE history. The early matches saw The Rockers: Shawn Micheals and Marty Janetty defeating Barbarian and Haku with Bobby Heenan at ringside in an entertaining opener. Next up former Intercontinental Champion Kerry Von Erich defeated Dino Bravo in a short match, and the British Bulldog, on his own after being in a tag team with Dynamite Kid for years, defeated The Warlord in a slow match.Next up saw the brawling Nasty Boys defeat the Hart Foundation, Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart, to win the WWE Tag Team Titles. This was a fun match. The Nasty Boys weren't great technical wrestlers but were rather good at kicking people's asses, which is what they did here.Next up Jake Roberts defeated Rick Martel in a blindfold match. A risky match type, to say the least from an entertainment perspective. The Undertaker then defeated Superfly Jimmy Snuka in what looked like a fairly meaningless match at the time, but turned out to be the start of the Undertaker's long Wrestlemania undefeated streak.Next came the first really big match on the card as The Ultimate Warrior, in arguably the best match of his career, defeated Randy Savage in an absorbing, outstanding contest. There were near falls aplenty, and both guys projected extremely well that their careers were on the line here. Savage turned on Queen Sherri after the match. He would be back wrestling within six months, while the Warrior would soon be gone, back, and then gone again.Tenryu and Kitao then defeated Demolition Ax and Smash in a match I have no recollection of. Mr Perfect retained the IC Title after getting disqualified against the Big Bossman., and Erathquake defeated Greg Valentine.Next up saw the Legion of Doom Hawk and Animal, better known as the great NWA Tag Team the Road Warriors defeat Power and Glory Hercules and Paul Roma, in their first Wrestlemania appearance.Ted DiBiase's former slave Virgil, now emancipated then defeated Ted DiBiase by count out, bringing the house down. Classic stuff. This was followed by the Mountie, formerly Jacques Rougeau, with Jimmy Hart defeating Tito Santana in a charmless squash. Finally comes the main event, in which "The Real American" Hulk Hogan defeated Iraqi Sympathiser Sgt Slaughter. Overcoming the unpatriotic tool and his offsider General Adnan in a decent match. Slaughter controlled most of it, really focusing on Hogan's back before Hogan hulked up, hit the leg drop and got the pin.Hulkamania was back, sort of. But this would be a weaker, short lived and less successful version than the 1984-1990 variety. There was just something missing from Hulkamania in 1991.
Sugar Salvador This was an average card for wrestling but good for storylines. The best match was Warrior vs Savage it was a career match and even though they didn't follow through it was still great and Savage making up with Elizabeth was a terrific moment. It was mostly about beginnings and ends. The Hart Foundation wrestled their last match. Demolition was at the end of their run. It was the end of the "Macho King". It was the beginning of the LOD's big run and Undertaker's first Wrestlemania. It was also Davey Boy Smith's 1st Wrestlemaia as a singles wrestler. A highlight was the 3 year blowoff match between Virgil and Diabiase, it was really well done. A lot of people will diss the blindfold match but Martel had me on the floor laughing when I saw it. All the American flags and Sgt. Slaughter fighting for Iraq, that just cheapened the event and the outcome was never in doubt.
