Synopsis

All Grown Up! is an animated television series created by Arlene Klasky and Gábor Csupó for Nickelodeon. After the success of All Growed Up, the Rugrats 10th anniversary special, Nickelodeon commissioned All Grown Up! as a spin-off series based on the episode. The series ran from April 12, 2003 to August 17, 2008, and currently airs in reruns on Nickelodeon and Nicktoons. The show aired in reruns on The N from August 18, 2003 until November 12, 2005, it was dropped from the channel on February 2006, but then returned in April 2007 until June 25, 2009, then on July 7, 2009, All Grown Up! was dropped from The N again. The show's premise is that the characters of the Rugrats are ten years older. Tommy, Dil, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Kimi, Angelica and Susie now have to deal with teen and pre-teen issues and situations. It was the first Nicktoon spin-off receiving positive review among critics, and developed a cult following after its run.

Reviews

Ensofter Overrated and overhyped
ChicDragon It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.
filippaberry84 I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Roman Sampson One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
Jeremy Wilson I'm a big fan of the original Rugrats and this show is also great. I really liked the "All Growed Up" special from the original show and I liked the idea of the babies becoming teenagers. The characters haven't really changed that much since "Rugrats", except with a few additions like Tommy (who's still the leader of the group) wanting to be a movie director which I guess is a career he's decided on, but I guess he's had 10 years to think about it. Angelica is definitely nicer than she was in "Rugrats" and I honestly like her better that way, she's much more tolerable and it's a breath of fresh air to see her do more nice things. Phil and Lil are also pretty entertaining and have some good episodes centered on them. Dil of course is my favorite character and I think we can all agree that he's the best character from the show! He's weird, yes, but that's what makes him so unique from the rest of the characters, he's the most entertaining of the lot but most importantly: He actually has a purpose in the show! Where in the original show as a baby he didn't really participate much and that's one of the reasons why I like this show as he's actually involved in the episodes. The episodes themselves are pretty compelling, they're more teenager oriented which is suitable for the target audience and it does have some good morals. The animation looks great and the backgrounds are very well done. Overall, this is an excellent spin- off that doesn't disappoint!
mirosuionitsaki2 Why did they change the cute, Rugrats television show we all know and love into a lame attempt to target teens? They don't have to do that. All ages watch the regular Rugrats. When I heard about this, I thought, "Hey. They made a TV series about the movie. Except, they're really grown up as a teenager! This is going to be better." When I saw it, it was just as if I was watching As Told By Ginger, except they made it suck. Great job. When in the Rugrats series has tommy been a director? Never. Basically all the episodes in this attempted series is about Tommy's love of directing. I don't like that. I rather watch plots that change every episode. Not the same thing over and over. Also, when did in the old series have each character have their own sides of the story? Never. This series did that. I didn't like that everyone separated. I don't want to see Angelica's side of the story. I hate her.I do not recommend this show if you like As Told By Ginger and the Rugrats.
atomius The original series of Rugrats was pretty good. This is an effort to show what happens when the children get older and go to school. And it isn't too bad. The characters all have new personalities that have changed and been elaborated upon during the years between this and the original. I actually think this is an alright series. The interesting question as to how the characters would change was answered abruptly at the beginning, no suspense or anything, which was nice. This is an interesting portrayal, and gives the universe (shared by the W Thornberries) an extra bit of canonicity to work with. Certainly not a bad show.
rcoopland I think you guys who are giving bad reviews are being unfair. All Grown Up is a great show, I'm not denying that Rugrats will always be better with it's (in my opinion) unique style of humor that both kids and adults can enjoy. I find it enjoyable to see how the 'rats have grown and changed. If your looking for more misunderstanding between kids and adults type humor that was so common in The Rugrats, then go elsewhere. If your more interested in seeing the kids growing and how relationships between some of them have changed, as well as another 'growing-pains' "tweenage" show. Then watch this, you won't beat it.I'd give it a 3+1/5 out of 5
