Great Film overall

It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

I've seen reviews saying that the animation for Berserk isn't very good. I disagree; at times its high-detail is quite remarkable, and the action is very well done. I do admit that in spite of some of the otherwise amazing shots here and there, it does falter in some areas. However, the story and sheer sense of tragedy in the show is rarely seen in animation, Japanese or not.Berserk is memorable, over the top at times, but always watchable. Its pacing is universally appealing and there's a good sense of tension and unpredictability. this is an anime that can be appreciated as a television show, not just an animation show. Please give this 90s gem a watch.

Unlike others i enjoyed the animation. The music puts you under a deep spell that lures you even further into this world of epic dark fantasy with plots and twists that rivals series such as game of thrones , character developments are rich and complex , the direction is great and puts you in the right mood , there is also a tons of goodies for those who like to pause and see stuff a couple of times , cant wait for more episodes. if your into cool characters that are strong but do take damage during fights this is it , or you just want to see something different and grown tired of cute cuddly characters and want to see some good old fashioned dirty anti hero like characters and some romantic stuff between, this is it , just pick it up and give it a go ,you wont be disappointed even if your not into anime's your gonna be surprised.

This is the best anime series I have ever watched. The art work isn't as good as most modern day anime series but the story and action is flawless. There's a reason people still talk about it. No clichés here and definitely not recommended for young children. The only thing wrong with it is that there is no 2nd season. It leaves you with this scene that begs for continuation, but not a cliffhanger(you have to watch it to understand this, otherwise I'll spoil it). You also do not have to read the book series to understand it, it tells the story of the beginning of this broad story and introduces the main characters. I also found myself looking up some of the songs played during episodes, they are very good and there timing during episodes are perfect. The action scenes are the wow factor though. THIS IS A VERY VIOLENT SHOW, but the way it displays it's characters will make you feel sympathy as to why they live the way they do. It actually addresses this very well. I feel it pays respect to soldiers in general because it addresses the fact that no one is forcing them to fight, but they all have their individual reasons why they fight. The first few episodes are a little out their, but once it gets going it never stops (it goes berserk). If you like TV series in general with a very strong story and character development this is a must see. This shouldn't be considered anime as it does not have any of the usual cliché garbage that most anime series have. It will also be beneficial for teenagers to watch this as it addresses some very serious issues in a very open minded perspective. The last thing I love about this series is how the episodes end. In each episode a lot of things are going on and with each episode it gets more serious and their battles get more intense. With that being said each episode ends when their task is completed. So none of the episodes end with cliffhangers, rather they leave you with the excitement of what will happen next and that alone will keep you hooked.

This series follows Guts; a mercenary who wields a huge sword. Normally he doesn't work with others but after meeting the enigmatic Griffith he joins his mercenary group; the Band of the Hawk. They fight alongside each other and the Hawks have more and more success in battle. This makes Griffith one of the king's favourites which upsets the aristocracy who believe he is getting above himself. Over the course of the series the group fight numerous battles and much blood is spilt. We also learn more about Guts and Griffith's pasts. Obviously it isn't all fighting; there is an element of romance involving Casca; the second in command of the Hawks. If you like your anime packed with lots of bloody violence then this is the series for you. Guts might not be a jolly protagonist but the way he swings his huge sword means he is entertaining. The other main characters are entertaining; especially Griffith and Casca. The numerous battles and skirmishes are all exciting even though they aren't all fully animated. Occasionally things do get a little disturbing; most notably when a group of enemies try to rape Casca and towards the end of the series when the band find themselves in a demonic landscape; these scenes mean it isn't really a suitable series for younger viewers. The story, which is actually shown in flashback is gripping and at no point did I feel bored or feel that the story was dragging and at the end I just sat stunned; to say it is shocking is an understatement
to figure out just who survived I may have to watch the opening episode again! These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.
