Iseerphia All that we are seeing on the screen is happening with real people, real action sequences in the background, forcing the eye to watch as if we were there.

mrryanscott-15530 This was a very interesting show. I liked Ellen Muth and Mandy Patinkin a lot. The show was a little thin once the premise kind of wears off a few episodes in but it was a lot of fun while it lasted.
tranj001 I think whats so successful about Dead Like Me is also why it was also so short lived. It has a highly underdeveloped mythology and Rube was the personification of this characteristic. That's was also why was was such an important character and loosing him was so devastating to the show. The flaw about the show is that it never really clearly defined the mythology (in Dead Like Me, its the concept of death and its intricacies, a really good example of clearly defined mythology is Inception and its ideas on dreams). And I often feel that Dead Like Me is also flawed since the mythology is not consistent. Clear indicators of underdeveloped mythology are shown in the initial episodes and how the questions they posed never get answered. For example, do trees, rocks, blah blah have souls? And the response was Rube says we just don't do it so I don't. I think one of the reasons the writers were so averse in defining these terms is because when you clearly define the mythology, you risk alienating viewers and the stories don't endure the test of time very well. But I have to say, I really loved the show and continue to re-watch it time and time again because it is so entertaining and so funny.
gopal4320-840-668506 I haven't quite figured out why I like this show but I think it's because of Ellen Muth and, of course, the excellent writing. Ellen Muth, who plays the lead character George who seems to have almost no muscles in her face, somehow projects a humanity into the show without seeming to do anything. It's fun watching her adventures as she seems to stumble through "life" from one death to the next without ever falling. I find myself pulling for everyone in the show to pull off whatever they're trying to pull off, even if it's a little sleazy, and always look forward to the next episode. Most of the characters are people I didn't care much for at first but as the writers revealed who they really are I came to love. The show opens with George moving towards her death and that death, in all its spooky, unorthodox glory set the stage for the rest of the showI'm quite disappointed this worthy show only made it through two seasons. I could have enjoyed the adventures of George for years.
Anthony Janssens Personally I'm not one to write reviews easily, but in this case I was just baffled to see the 8.4 score for this show and felt compelled to share my view. 8.4 ranks just below amazing series such as The Wire, Dexter, 6 feet under, Deadwood and many others yet it lacks in every way: there is no plot, the humor is weak and one can't relate to the characters because there is nothing to relate to, they're dead. I watched the whole first season hoping for something to happen but it never did.I highly recommend the series I mention above and challenge anyone who has watched these to watch dead like me and give it an equally high score.(As a side note: there is no comparison with six feet under. Both shows talk about death but it ends there.)
