mekjd Always a decade or two late to good views, I have just finished an extended watching of this series. (I don't say bingeing any longer, it is too crude.) I fell in love with this cast and crew, and with the acting that made the characters seem so believable. The writers were especially adept in investing each character with good and bad qualities, and with propensities for deep love as well as destruction. I can't say enough good things about Everwood, so I will say no more, except that I look forward to the day when I have forgotten enough to make rewatching with new eyes another treat. (Oh, dear, I did make that pun. Quite unintentional. Sorry.)

TBJCSKCNRRQTreviews A brilliant brain-surgeon moves to a small town with his teenage son and small daughter, when he is widowed. This has excellent writing, with clever and well-delivered dialog(so much of which is quote-worthy and memorable), and smart scripts throughout, and deals with countless problems, and usually in a respectful manner. The values promoted tend to be traditional ones, but this usually doesn't underestimate the issues it goes into. There is a lot of humor in this show, and I can't claim to keep from laughing whenever Tom Amandes speaks one of his utterly perfect lines. The cast is great, and almost all of the acting is marvelous. Vivien Cardone is incredibly talented for her age, Gregory Smith is far from that kid in Small Soldiers, and Treat Williams is impeccable. I could go on. The characters are plentiful, varied(everyone will have someone to like and/or recognize themselves in) and well-developed, and they all genuinely grow throughout the course of the series. This maintained a pretty high level of quality all the way, if it got somewhat melodramatic after the first season(and by the fourth, Bright was kind of the preferred scapegoat when someone had to do or have done something wrong). The guest stars are good. I recommend this to any fan of drama shows with dry comedy. 8/10

But then, a new face appears in town. Dr. Andrew Brown (Treat Williams, with a beard!), a world-famous neurosurgeon and his children Ephram, played by Gregory Smith, and Delia, played by Vivien Cardone.Andy is here to start a new life. After his wife died in a car accident, he realized how little he knew his own children. Now, he wants to reconnect. There's just one problem. His son hates him.Meanwhile, Ephram has other problems. He falls in love with the most popular girl in school, Amy, played Emily VanCamp, who, of course, has a boyfriend. Not only that, this boyfriend is in a coma. So when she hears about a surgeon coming to town, she has new hope.The aforementioned quirky Everwoodians have various reactions to the new residents. There's the town's doctor, played by Tom Amandes, who isn't happy about the new competition as Andy opens an office. There's his estranged mother, played by Debra Mooney, who is married to the only black guy within a 30-mile radius. There's Andy's neighbor, Nina, played by Stephanie Niznik, with whom he always finds a sympathetic ear."Everwood" was easily one of the best dramas on TV. Mostly because it had a lot of drama (Deaths! Comas! Unrequited love!) without ever being cheesy, and just enough comedic elements without being ridiculous.Another strong suit of the show are its characters, whom you just can't help but fall in love with as you get to know them along the way. A lot of that is due to great writing, but just as much credit goes to the actors who craft their characters with a certain fondness. Tom Amandes in particular succeeds in making the town doctor, who seems to be nothing but a funny sidekick at first, into a multi-layered, interesting person.There's one thing you can count on with "Everwood." Almost every single episode will make you cry like a baby, or, at the very least, make your eyes water. It's just that good.

andree-eriksson I don't have enough superlatives in my vocabulary to describe this show. My Everwood DVD is more like a dear friend to whom I'm always welcome when I feel down. I found about Everwood in a time in my life when I really could relate to the Brown family and ever since I have returned to everwood, watching every single episode more than ten times. This is the kind of show you en-light your friends with, the one you show to your parents, the one you will be telling your children about.. I can honestly say that watching Everwood has made me into a better person, and if one TV-show would come alive I wish it would be this one.. I'll move to Everwood in an instant. This show has no exploding cars or helicopters, it touches the heart and ensnares the mind.It's a 64 hour long movie, with a beginning and perfect ending. It's beautiful, a masterpiece. I have told a lot of my friends about everwood and most of them feel the same way as I do about it. It will higher your standards so that every other show seems pointless in comparison.I know this seems a little too good to be true but I can't do this show justice sitting here and telling you how great it is, find out for yourself, and If you're lucky and you are like me your in for a television treat of a lifetime. Everwood is the only show I have ever seen that I know that I will return to time and time again, for the rest of my life.
