Synopsis

Hillside (known as Fifteen in the United States) is a Canadian-American teen drama that aired on YTV in Canada from 1991 to 1993. Created and produced by John T. Binkley, the series was Nickelodeon's only teenage soap opera. The show was shot on videotape, similar to most daytime dramas. The series was first conceived as Fifteen in an improvised form for The Disney Channel, where a 13-episode pilot series was produced and tested in the U.S. After Disney decided not to proceed with the project, Nickelodeon and Canadian partners joined Binkley in producing the series which was known in its first and second seasons as Hillside in Canada, and throughout the 65-episode run as Fifteen in the U.S. The show was subsequently syndicated around the world, with runs in Germany and Israel, among others. The series features a large ensemble cast which underwent several changes over the show's four-season run. Notable cast members include Laura Harris, Enuka Okuma, and Ryan Reynolds.

Brightlyme i know i wasted 90 mins of my life.
SeeQuant Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Brooklynn There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.
mringlet Hi, I was a cameraman on "Fifteen" during it's second season, done in Ottawa at CJOH-TV (Ist season-Vancouver, last 2-Orlando); recently found a cast/crew photo which motivated me to look it up on IMDb. Both 15 and You Can't Do That On Television were produced there at the same time, but never on the same days, so I don't think that was where Ryan and Alanis 1st met, but it's a small world after all. We did the whole season's episodes in a few weeks, cramming several sets, along with cameras, booms, etc. into a relatively small space, circumstances which I think might explain the shortcomings in production value, but I'll argue that the cast often did exemplary work in light of their ages and experience at the time. Ryan and Laura's success is no surprise. Anyway, we did crank them out like sausages, but it was a fun show to work and the kids were great.
marksandig The continuing High School saga was a Sunday ritual until it's demise. Who can forget those Canadian accents in the 1st 2 seasons. The non-stop drama with future stars Ryan Reynolds & Laura Harris. It was nice that they used actual teenagers instead of the typical 20 something usuals that appear in teen shows and movies. Down the line there were great characters, Brooke the snob, Jake the loser, Dylan the rebel, Billy (Ryan reynolds) was a rebel wannabe but an OK kid, then he turned into a jerk. Arsemann was nice as was David. Even Chris turned out OK after befriending Russ when he found out Russ was very ill. How about when Chris fired Dylan from the band (teenagers In Love) and replaced him with Roxanne who was a horrible singer. Arsemann was actually a good singer, but quit when tensions rose. The band could only perform one song and what a great one it was..."well i'm too old to cry & too young to fly, but mama says be glad i'm young & don't ask why, because i'm 15, not old enough to be free"....long live Fifteen. Now we just need the DVD's to come out.
Jennifer-matela I use to watch this show. This show use to be on Nickelodeon. They were in high school. All I remember is that Ryan Renyolds character was an alcoholic. OH and his girlfriend on the show was the blonde girl who was the alien in The Faculty, when she talked she sounded like she was whispering, it drove me nuts. REmember the other show when you said water they would dump water on you and when you said I Don't KNOW they would dump slim on you. I don't know if i have another two line left in me. I just wanted to write a quick review ya know. So this is the eighth line. The next line (this one) will be my 9th. So I only have one more to go. The END
Travis It's been nearly 10 years since I've seen an episode of this but here's what I remember of it. There were a few characters but the main focus of the show was the relationship between Matt (the basketball star with a drinking problem) and Ashley (the princess). Then, in order of importance, there was Dylan (the guitar playing pretty-boy rebel), Brook the snob, then there was some kid who was Dylan's hanger-on, and another one who was Matt's hanger-on. I think there was some other girl in there who was important but not as easily stereotyped. I forget her name. Then this guy named Chris came along who was a bass-playing rebel who was a more evil version of Dylan. Quite a few other characters came and went each season (most vanishing without an explanation). I now will hang my head in shame for accurately remembering as much of that show as I can. This was the kind of show you would watch but dared not admit to anyone you watched. It was stupid, cheesy, but still quite fun to watch. This was a low-budget version of Degrassi Jr High.
