Synopsis

Home and Away is set in the fictional town of Summer Bay, a coastal town in New South Wales, and follows the personal and professional lives of the people living in the area. The show initially focused on the Fletcher family, Pippa and Tom Fletcher and their five foster children Frank Morgan, Carly Morris, Steven Matheson, Lynn Davenport and Sally Keating, who would go on to become one of the show's longest-running characters. The show also originally and currently focuses on the Stewart family. During the early 2000s, the central storylines focused on the Sutherlands and later, the Hunters. Home and Away had proved popular when it premiered in 1988 and had risen to become a hit in Australia, and after only a few weeks, the show tackled its first major and disturbing storyline, the rape of Carly Morris; it was one of the first shows to feature such storylines during the early timeslot. H&A has tackled many adult-themed and controversial storylines; something rarely found in its restricted timeslot.

Majorthebys Charming and brutal
Organnall Too much about the plot just didn't add up, the writing was bad, some of the scenes were cringey and awkward,
KnotStronger This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
Murphy Howard I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
gir-24 I laugh at people that tell me they prefer Home & Away over Neighbours, I also laugh at people that tell me they prefer Neighbours to Home & Away. They are the same exact show with different crap actors, tis like comparing a dog turd to a cat turd, both are turds WHICH one do you wanna eat?Perhaps I am being a bit harsh on Home & Away, but I truly cannot understand how a show this bad can entertain people for so long I'm assuming it's a glut of generation y morons watching... the other thing I cant understand is why this show has so many uglies. To summarise: bad acting, bad writing, bad characters. NOTHING can save this awful show.
bec-delta-goodrem Home and Away is a great show. A credit to the Australian TV Industry. I cant go a night without watching it and Have been watching it for about 9 years or something now. I just love all the characters and story lines. They can been a little far fetched-but I guess thats part of the reason why I Like it. Other beg to differ. But it is such a great show, The stroy lines keep you on the edge of your seat and you always have your favouite love triangle you love to follow-and by the end of it you have totally changed your mind=d about who you want to end up with who. There are so many twists and turns and loves and deaths. You never know when the story line is going to end-and you never want it to. Watching home and away through all these years has made me realise just how much I want to be apart of the Australian Television industry. You can tell that the people are genuanly nice and are just all around great actors and people. And I really want to do this when Im older. Home and away is a great show-a must see-and a must not miss..
missvixen_90 I'm from merry old england- and i think that this show is tons better that the English ones you get. the story lines are always good unlike the ones you get on soaps over here. i love the whole story and have been watching it for the past twelve years its great!!! i think that Nick Smith should come back and personally i like the old Hayley Smith (Cartwright) better. she was a great actress. Paul O' Brian is amazingly good looking its unbelievable!! LOL. and so is the one that plays Lucas. Home and Away never stops bringing in eye candy for us girls or for the boys. it is a truly magnificent show. i wish i was part of it. LOL!!
pauldrennan Even though I am nearly 26 yrs old, I must admit I find Home and Away is one of my favourite, if not favourite Aussie soap around.I must admit though, one thing that DOES annoy me is how some things drag on and on (Like Project 56).I live in Brisbane, and was down in Sydney last year, Although I didn't actually go to Palm Beach (where the beach settings are shot), I was glad to at least be in the same city as the show was shot. I do think though, they need a few more new characters in the show.As for my most liked character.....Well hard to say, Kate Ritchie is now 27 and was only 9 yrs old when she first starred in the soap, in its debut in 1988. Her and Ray Meagher who plays Alf, are the only originals.
