a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

Jayne Brook, who will be 48 this coming Sept (2008), plays the part of police Lt. Jamie Avery, started her career as a JFK High School Teacher in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987). Since that time she has really made a living in TV series such as John Doe, WIOU, Sirens, Chicago Hope, The District, Everwood, Boston Legal, NCIS and Brothers and Sisters just to name a few and that does not include the handful of movies she has done as well. She plays her part to a T and fits right in with her fellow co-stars.Dominic Purcell plays the part of John Doe, a man who seems to know everything but his real name and where he came from. Dominic may be better known to the younger generation as the guy from Prison Break, but at 38 years of age, Dominic has been around since 1998 where he started off in Raw FM. He was also in Beast Master, Visitors (2003), Blade Trinity (2004), The Grave Dancers (2006), and just completed Creek (2008).William Forsythe plays Digger, a man who owns a bar and yet seems to know quite a bit about quite a few things he might not should know about. Forsythe has long been a favorite of mine and has a long resume, which includes Long Shot (1980), Hill Street Blues (1983), The Devil's Rejects (2005), The Platform (2008) (post-production) and one he is working on for 2009.Rekha Sharma who plays Stella and seems to meet the criteria of a nice looking young lady from India who also happens to be the computer nerd. Rekha does it with style and class, not to mention good looks. She started off in 2001 as an EMT in The Lone Gunman, went on to The Outer Limits, Cold Squad, then five episodes of Dark Angel in 2001 and 2002. She has been in the L Word, House M.D., and most recently in "Battlestar Galactica" . Now in Traveling (2008) (post-production) .John Marshall Jones plays Frank Haynes, a cop who works for Lt. Avery. Started off in Screen Test in 1985, went on to such things as Good Morning Vietnam, Family Ties, China Beach, Bones, Boston Legal, and now in The Troop (2008).This series worked on so many levels that it is hard to see what happened to it. Each story was a little different and it made for good viewing. God help us all if all the networks can bring us is so-called reality T.V. while letting the great shows like John Doe, The Kindred, Moonlight, Shark, and many others which have died at the hands of the network brass, so we can have crap like I Survived A Japanese Game Show and do we really need two Price Is Right shows, and I will get booed for saying this, but I could care less who the next American Idol is or the next Nashville Star will be or who's dog is the best. John Doe deserved better and hopefully one day the brass will be able to see beyond the crap that is on today.

John Doe, in my opinion, is one of the best shows to come on TV in a while. The story goes like this, a man wakes up, naked in the woods and doesn't know who he is or how he got on the small island off the coast of Seattle. Crazy thing is he knows just about everything else and along with his search for his identity, he helps to police solve impossible crimes. The show was cut sadly after the first season, ending on a cliff hanger, which is always the absolute worst. The show was a little "iffy" at first, but once you get past that first episode, the show digs its hooks in and you find yourself tuning in week after week. The show has its less serious moments, when people around try to initiate conversation, or ask a sarcastic question, and Doe just spews out random facts, that "normal" people shouldn't, making things awkward yet funny. I'm glad Scifi picked the show back up again, and they need to air it more, at more convenient times. If anyone out there knows where i can download the episodes or if there's a complete season DVD i can but, by all means let me know. Definitely a must watch, so go and watch it now.

This show had all the makings of a great series; good plot and back story, characters you cared about and a "feel good" resolution each week. A "Lost" before there was one. But like a lot of good series that Fox didn't know what to do with, it was cancelled. But maybe this one wasn't Fox's fault. The end of the series came for me when they killed off one of the best characters it had. Karen did NOT have to die to move the plot forward. It would have been better to have John Doe chase the Phoenix group around for a few more episodes trying to rescue her and Theresa, the unknown woman from the ferry he tried to track down for the first half of the show. The weird airing schedule didn't help much either. You never knew if you were to see a new episode or an old re-run when you tuned in. Only one new episode in February? During Sweeps? Can you say "shoot my foot?" At least they were able to work for a year, most of them anyway.

I'm not a big John Doe expert, I don't live in the US and the show came here a little late so basically I've seen only the Pilot but I feel that even from this standpoint I can make a relevant claim. The episode was nice, but all too regular. In fact, for a Pilot episode it failed to achieve several important elements that are required or at least recommended. A Pilot is supposed to introduce the show give the viewer all the relevant information without swamping him with too much details and events. I know that the atmosphere is supposed to be a bit murky as John himself does not have any pertinent information about himself but still in this case there were undeterminable gaps in time, almost no introduction of the other cast members but yet scenes that were displayed as though we have already grown accustomed to everyone. There weren't enough important details and too many things that should've come later on. If only one character is at the center of a show after seeing the pilot the viewer should already get a pretty good idea about the character. That's not delivered in this case, we're shown only small bits about his internal turmoil though I can only imagine that a person in his condition would not be able to think of anything else. And yes, it does bare more than a slight resemblance to The Pretender, only, unlike what's been written here before it's not more interesting or more earnest in the least. Dominic Purcell does a nice job, he's believable- in better circumstances the viewer would be compelled to throw all their sympathies toward him, but honestly sometimes it seems like the guy is about to hyperventilate at any moment whereas Michael T. Weiss is sweet, touching and convincing. The mystery intrigue-like part of The Pretender is interesting, consistent and gripping and I doubt that any of John Doe's cast can imitate Andrea Parker's performance. So there's no comparing it to The Pretender, definitely not to anything the great Joss Whedon would conjure up and most definitely not the The X- Files (as I've seen many have been doing while commenting). In fact I don't think I'd even be as presumptuous as to compare it to Dark Angel. Don't get me wrong, I'm still gonna watch the second episode. In fact I'm probably going to watch them all because it does seem like a fine show, one that everyone who likes the genre and the type can definitely enjoy on perhaps more levels than one. (And by the way, how does he know he sees only B&W if he can't remember ever seeing colors?)
