Curapedi I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Asad Almond A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
Javagal1978-728-345470 I didn't love it. It felt slow and repetitive of themes. I loved the actors, Ian McShane is brilliant as always. Sebastian Stan plays a perfect in the closet gay man in his typical bad boy, brooding, damaged character. I didn't even make it to the last episode because it was too slow moving for me. I felt like the family dynamic was predictable and I could tell the relationships were not going to go well from the first couple episodes. I am not gonna lie, I watched this soley for Sebastian Stan. He could be taped eating cake and I would most likely watch it. Hes a great actor, but he got stuck being type casted into these particular roles.
stephenwalton From start to finish, The entire cast, the story, the script and the plot. I was gripped from the opening to the ending. I love "Damages" and I loved this equally.I was so impressed by this series that I will be looking up the writers to see what else has come from the same pen.Its writing at it's best. Can it get any better than this? Once you get used to the diction you are hooked.A welcome surprise to see Macaulay Culkin return to our screens. Ian McShane is AWESOME!. I must look up his last series. What a presence! I hope who ever reads this enjoys this show as much as I did. Well done to everyone involved.
fliptopfish awesome is a word used a lot these days but in this case i mean it this is one of the best series i've seen - and i've seen a lot. it is the most tragically under viewed underrated series of all time. because the NBC screwed up its airing times and didn't advertise it in the right way to the right people. (yet again) and basically sabotaged its own creation this is a cancelled gem.why do American TV companies have to eat there own young, its barbaric.i don't think its been shown in the UK and i doubt it will be now. this is such a shame, the storyline is unique as is the atmosphere it creates. the visuals are stunning,as is everything else about it. Ian mcshane shows why he is held in such high regard, but the rest of the cast is excellent too. if you get the chance to catch this do so. i have been very annoyed at cancellations before (many times in fact),but never have i seen quite such a wasted opportunity. i wish it had been made on a smaller network it would have had a better chance of survival. except of course they couldn't afford a series this expensive. if the big networks in the u.s don't get 20 million viewers an ep they cancel. think of the the best film you ever watched - now imagine if they had cut it off halfway through making it. that's what they have done here. they could have wrapped it up so easily they had a possible ending right at there fingertips if they weren't going to make any more they could have at least finished it. there are some on this forum stating that it has got an ending of sorts, - they must have been watching a different show to me,as far as i can see it has hardly got started.i very much doubt if this will ever come out on region 2 dvds. i will buy the dvds in region 1 if its the only way i can get them.its very frustrating not to have a proper finish, but its THAT good i would still rather have it unfinished than not at all.
daaron Kings enjoys strong performances, excellent production values, and compelling storytelling. I found "Judgment Day" particularly entertaining, much for Ian McShane's lead. And McShane's line in the first episode, "Half my kingdom it is," sealed my interest in the series. The sub-plot about the king's gay son is also good, albeit brushed under the carpet in some of the later episodes. Now, pundits claim that the show is apparently very expensive to produce, and as such, begs for cancellation before it can build up enough audience to justify its cost. But the show's real flaw is the burden of its own deity worship. Now, that God is part of the construct is only to be expected, in that "Kings" is a retelling of the biblical story of King David -- and that's not a problem. Rather, it's that the show's producers and writers seem so compelled to make the series rely so heavily on the faith of its characters, that the stories are crushed under their own weight. In Episode 7, "The Sabbath Queen," for instance (spoiler follows), the princess tells David that she can't be with him because of a promise she made to God. It's a silly, heavy-handed premise that's implausible --- even in a fictional universe where modern-day USA is a monarchy -- because her character has been written as an activist and a rule-breaker.The exact same thing happened to the recently-canceled "Eli Stone." It started with a lighthearted, somewhat fantastical setting, and then became bogged down by religious dogma and heavy-handed arguments about faith.Essentially, "Kings" could've been great, had its makers not sucked all the fun out of it.
