How sad is this?

This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.

I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

I liked the concept. Using Legos to simulate a whole world. Cute and cool at the same time. But the show didn't develop. I think they spent too much time and money making thew show than actually doing something with it.Putting a recap of the last episode in the first 30 seconds of each episode meant that I didn't have to see any more of it. I could just watch the recap, then skip to the next recap. Four seasons summed up in just 20 minutes. And they did it to themselves! The monsters never really did anything, and neither did the Nexo Nights. They just bonked into each other until Merlok 2.0 lent the Knights some power. Then poof!, the monsters start losing and retreat. While there's some minor character development, the squirebots are still useless after 4 years, the Nexo Nights are still useless without Merlok 2.0, Merlok is useless without Ava, and without Clay the whole team would just sit around watching TV.Character Summaries:
Axl: I love to eat! This is my character! What can I say, I love food!
Lance: I hope you love me as much as I love myself?
Macy: Aw, come on Dad, let me fight!
Aaron: Watch me do something really cool! Woo-hoo!
Clay: We must defend the kingdom!
Ava: I'm working on it. Give me time!
Robin: Here's the next thing you don't even know you need! Am I a Knight now? How about now? Now?
Merlok 2.0: Oh, um, what? Oh! Oh, hello! I didn't see you there! I'm only here to fill the Knights with magic power!
King Halbert: I'm the King! Do they know I'm King? Where's Macy, and why isn't she in a dress?
Queen Halbert: They know, dear. Macy's right here, until she needs to help defend your Kingdom.
Jestro: Am I bad? I know I'm mad, but only sometimes. I want to be good at being bad. Am I bad now?
Book of Monsters: Yeah, you're bad. Real bad (stupid!). Now let's go find the next evil book to fulfill my...I mean OUR evil plan! The only character development I saw during the whole series is that Clay turns out to be Merlok's uncle and Ruina Stoneheart's son. But who's his dad? I never found out. Maybe I went to sleep before the series ended.

The TV show started out decent. Nexo Powers were cool, monster designs were okay, and the book of monsters was pretty good. Jestro's corruption was justifiable too. However in the second half of the first season and beyond, things went from decent to horrible, the nexo powers were the same all the time and the cities look exactly the same. There has never been any good character development and Lance is too annoying and too over emphasized. We never actually see the lava monsters destroy things, only things that are already destroyed, and the only thing they do is knock each other around and bump into each other with their vehicles.

Greatly written, great animation, great character development. Truly an excellent show highly recommend. I love this show it has a great plot and it is overall a truly well planned show and I would highly recommend it. The younger audiences can be entertained while the older audiences still can be entertained as well.

Oh my gosh, this show is so awesome! Is it wrong to watch the show for the villains? Because that's one of my favorite parts of it all. Constructed really well, has a great story and it's so funny! It's like a medieval version of the show Lego Ninjago; Masters of Spinjitzu. People keep acting like it's horrible but they probably haven't even gave it a shot yet. I would definitely recommend this if you like Legos or just I recommend it anyway.
