ErinNavan I really don't like to give poor ratings, so very often I chose not to rate something, rather than to give it low rating. However, occasionally, things are so bad, that I have to comment.First of all, acting is mostly decent. Sad truth is that the actors didn't have any decent material to work with.I am all for litentia poetica, and I always approach new things open-minded. I understand that people like to take well-established myths and play with them, and I have no problem with that.However, the universe created should follow own rules, and things should be logical. Here, everything happens without logic, and it mostly looks like bunch of kids tried to make something, but they couldn't agree whose idea they will use, so they used all, and left the project in the middle, for someone who hasn't seen it to finish it blindfolded.True, there are some very good sentences that could be quoted from some episodes, but in the entire context they have no value, nor strength. The closing is so shallow, that it almost made me cry with frustration.The writer(s) seem(s) not understand concepts of Greek religion, love, sacrifice, or logic. They even don't follow the concepts they made.

katherinethecat I mean, don't all those one star reviews seem a little repetitive? And seriously overstated, if you've like...watched 2 min of the show? It's an all right show. I'm binge watching right now. If you've got the slightest background knowledge of Greek mythology it's sort of cool to watch out for all the little shout outs to the old stories. I guess if all you've ever watched is reality TV and Hollywood summer big bang movies this will seem slow and the intrigue aspects of the show will definitely fly right over your head. Sure the hero is sort of innocent and out of his depth at first and he doesn't secks up the girl by the end of the first episode, and no, no slow motion walking away from an explosion...but there's a believable set of characters, a couple of guys you can root for, a couple of women you can respect, and more than a few moments of "oh ship!!, what just happened?!?" It's clever at times, generally solid. The effects are as good as necessary, they don't take away from anything and they don't overshadow anything. It's more of a political intrigue and character development sort of show, but in terms of that it moves at a good pace. After about 4 eps, all the power dynamics and alliances have shifted and you might be very surprised to find that some characters are still alive, and some aren't dead (not the same thing, I promise). Sorry, no brad pitt glistening in the Grecian (or troyan?) sun, just some quality story telling. Let's just say this is more for the Star Trek, rather than the Star Wars crowd. What can I say I'm absorbed. It's not the new firefly, but it's a bit better than merlin for me (tighter story, they seem to know where they are going, fewer extraneous characters etc)....maybe like around a ST:DS9 the second time I watch it level of enjoyment and obsession. I'm rating it 10/10 just to balance what I can only assume are some total azzwipe trolls, but my sincere rating is a 7/10. Watch it if are waiting for sherlock or doctor who or whatever your whiz bang series is to come back.

Tristen1960 It started off a little rough but the series is more and more engaging. It feels more like a play then a TV show. Ignore the sometimes poor special affects and focus on the story. I think the acting is very good and the writing is improving. Try not to judge this with other shows that have million dollar budgets. It does as well as it can with the small budget it has. Listen to the words and concentrate on the acting. It's better then most people are saying.I think the story will wind up being about a Jewish/Christian figure (the character of Hero) who is destined to be the beginning of a new faith (one God) that will eventually replace the pagan gods.It's a good show and I hope it gets renewed.

lmahesa Watching the pilot and the subsequent two episodes, I had my doubts. The CGI, particularly the background 'sets' of gigantic statues were preposterous... yet, I had an inkling and a hope.So, I waited.I have just finished watching episode 12 with one to go, and it would appear that my suspicions were correct.This is not the Greek mythology we all know. This is a SyFy, or SciFi, production. Those of you who have read Dan Simmons' "Olympos" know what I'm talking about - those who don't, read a synopsis of that book.Since the silly, semi-comedy pilot, the characters have grown and the acting has become more polished. I now find myself disliking 'Hero' - not because of his acting, but because of the character development. He's now an anti-hero, in my eyes.Give it a shot. Yes, it might get canceled, but it's looking like the ending will be fairly epic and won't be too much of a cliffhanger.
