Synopsis

Right now you're hurtling around the sun at 64,000 miles an hour (100,000 kms an hour). In the next year you'll travel 584 million miles, to end up back where you started. Presenters Kate Humble and Dr Helen Czerski follow the Earth's voyage around the sun for one complete orbit, to witness the astonishing consequences this journey has for us all.

Harockerce What a beautiful movie!
Boobirt Stylish but barely mediocre overall
Blucher One of the worst movies I've ever seen
Ezmae Chang This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
truthseeker-96571 If I had never thought about what causes our seasons, why our calendars are off, why the great pyramid used to point to a different north star, had never learned about the cross of the zodiac, and how modern religions are all partially based on corrupted ancient knowledge of astronomy and calendars, turned into astrotheology, turned into sun worship based religion today, had never learned why we measure time in ages, etc.; then I would have found this documentary educational and more interesting.I find it very strange that there is no mention of, or understanding that, our Earth wobbles, and that IS the Earths tilt. Such two dimensional thinking! No mention that this wobble takes 12 ages of aprox. 2150 years each. No mention that the winter solstice, becomes the summer solstice in 6 ages, with respect to our position in relation to the universe.I am surprised that it was even mentioned that the Earth's wobble increases and decreases several degrees...oh, they didn't say that; they simply said that the "tilt" changes a few degrees....two dimensional thinking!I found the explanation for the Earths tilt, wobble actually, to be a poor theory. Yes an impact can cause a wobble, but to suggest/assume that some impact billions of years ago put the Earth into a permanent tilt, wobble actually, seems far fetched to me. I think it is far more likely that since Earth spins, and is therefore thicker in the middle, the gravity of the Sun, Moon, and other planets, and body of the galaxy, would pull more on the thick part setting the earth to wobble and keep it wobbling. Could be just the Moon causing the wobble as its' orbit moves north and south along Earth's axis, and it also gets closer and farther too.I don't think it was mentioned either, that the Earth's orbit is currently very circular, but this is not always so. It has been, and will be again, an elliptical orbit.I was also taught in school this two dimensional limited thinking about out solar system, where the Earth is "tilted" and nothing ever changes much; however I have a high degree of mechanical and abstract reasoning aptitude, and I continue to ask questions, till it makes sense. It is nice that, finally, at least something is on the boob tube, with a slightly bigger picture view of the mechanics of our solar system, and the resulting global weather changes here. Climate change, BTW, IS the result of the increase and decrease of the Earth's wobble, or "tilt". The word climate comes from a word that means angle, as in the angle that the Sun hits the Earth. The climate zones are sections based on these angles which change only a few degrees, but move many many miles. Therefore "climate change" is Earths wobble change, and is normal, natural, and effects global weather changes, but has nothing to do with global warming or cooling, and certainly has nothing to do with the very minor warming effect from human produced CO2.Earths orbit being circular sometimes and sometimes being elliptical would defiantly cause warming and cooling periods, as too would a meteorite impact or super volcano making enough dust to block out the Sun. The Sun going through active periods and calm periods would also cause global warming and cooling periods. Our solar systems galactic orbit must have some effect on weather but to what degree???Our weather is always changing because there are many cycles effecting it. These cycles are of different time periods and so our global weather is never the same. What you are being told, that man made CO2 is causing global warming, is at best a joke. It is in fact a lie and a scam, to scare "carbon" taxes out of your pockets, into already rich greedy hands, being used to create globalist controls, aka, the NWO plans.I have to give some credit to the creators of this documentary, for at least peeking outside of the box.
siobhan malik For someone who has never really understood planets, atmosphere, orbits and weather and has never really had the desire to try and find out more, I found this program really informative and hugely interesting. Done in such a way as to show the interesting aspects such as why we have rain forests, deserts, hurricanes, how Norway is both dark and light constantly at certain times of the year, summer, winter, different climates, everything you didn't know you wanted to know. Done in a scientific way but using everyday objects to really help you to understand exactly how it works and why Excellent for children and grown-ups alike.
