Solemplex To me, this movie is perfection.
Laikals The greatest movie ever made..!
Mischa Redfern I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
Bessie Smyth Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
mjbeswick812 I really enjoy this show and it's making me return to British dramas as in recent years I haven't found them anywhere near as good as American ones. Yeah, it may have some unrealistic bits, but hey, its not real, get over it. On the whole I'm loving it and was devastated at the loss of a certain character. I really hope they'll be coming back for more series'.
Chris Palmeri Summary says it all. Where is the tension and suspense, the twists and turns? Did anyone really look forward to the next episode or just watch it because it was on after the bake off? Not a lot really happens and the 5 episodes are heavily padded out by the supposed 'love story' where our girl can't decide who she wants. I cant remember the last time i watched something so contrived, with almost every 'action' scene formulating some ridiculous scenario where our girl needs to be rescued by Elvis, who throws his life on the line again and again in some sort of hopeless attempt to win her back (even though she wants him too, oh wait no she doesn't, oh yes she does, etc etc). I was rooting for the terrorist in the end as he came across more likable than our girl. My favorite bit was her feeble attempt at hiding her dog tags that led to her annoying inmates death. Oh and being rescued by swinging a remote control around. Nowhere near the superior quality of Luther, Sherlock and Happy Valley.
Jackson Booth-Millard Originally it was a great one off TV film, and after only a single memorable appearance in Being Human and the failure of Switch it was her best performance since Stacey Slater in EastEnders. Basically Molly Dawes (Lacey Turner) has been training for over a year, and she finally becomes an army medic at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan, the only female member of 2 Section, working alongside fellow soldier and ex- fling Dylan 'Smurf' Smith (Iwan Rheon), and team leader and hailed hero Captain Charles James (Ben Aldridge). Molly for a little while fights to prove herself in the all male scenario, including being at first squeamish towards blood, and she offers compassion towards the locals, including eleven year old Afghan girl Bashira (Becky Eggersglusz), but Molly does her duty when the situation gets serious and the injuries occur. Throughout the series Molly rescues the many injured soldiers on missions and patrol, she has Smurf longing for the same affection he feels for her, she develops a relationship with her "boss" Captain James, she becomes a known target towards the enemy following her encounters with Bashira, and returning home she is supported by her mother Belinda (Kerry Godliman) and father Dave (Sean Gallagher) and other family members. Also starring Arinze Kene as Corp. Kinders, Simon Lennon as Brains, Nick Preston as Mansfield Mike, Charley Palmer Rothwell as Baz Vegas, Sean Ward as Fingers, Lawrence Walker as Dangleberries, Ade Oyefeso as Nude-Nut, Zubin Varla as Qaseem, Kirsty Averton as Jackie, Tamer Burjaq as Sohail, Aubrey Shelton as Badrai, Keenan Arrison as Taj, Adam Astill as Major Beck, Jonas Khan as Captain Azizi and Flossy Grounds as Bella Dawes. Turner gives a really good performance as the young girl trying to prove herself and find determination, while also dealing with personal feelings, supporting cast members Rheon and Aldridge are good too, you could argue it is not all completely realistic with the army scenario, but it doesn't matter, the story lines throughout the episodes work really well, the action and effects are well done, and it is very easy to drift into and enjoy, a watchable drama. Very good!
Kevin MacLellan I have been watching British TV over the past couple of years and came across this series by fluke. In North America we do not have anywhere near some of the good British series available. Perhaps the NA plots will add more character in the future but today we watch a series centered on a plot and we know it will end in usually a good way. That is not to say there is not some good NA TV because there are some super series available. The Brits add more depth with character and less with the plot and inane action of killing a dozen people every show. Anyway my wife is Brit and she likes the British shows so I am along for the ride. And what a ride the show Our Girl offers. You should watch the prequel show to get set up properly. A girl from a neighborhood that places her in a dead end situation. Her family is not supportive of her wishes and she busts out on her own when she reaches 18 years of age. She dumps her male boyfriend who seemed positioned to dominate any female through actions and religion. Her lot is directed when she finds herself in front of a recruiting office. She is desperate not to follow her mother's demise of catering to a bum of a husband who looks to not work and scam welfare as means of living. The story follows with the TV series and it is based on her mission to Afghanistan and becoming a medic with responsibility she would never have had in England. I hope to catch the full series and love to watch this girl grow as a human. It is well done with a good script and acting. The production is first rate and my wife loves it. Fluke or not, the series deserves full merit and should be an aspiring film to young people.Jan. 2015:I was checking IMDb to see when series will resume. I did not see any continuous series for 2015. Hope they can write enough material to expand it. Great series and deserves a longer run.
