Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.

If you want to see what it takes to create a superstar, or at least try to create a superstar, then this series is for you.Asia Monet Ray is an 8-year-old dancer whose hero is Beyoncé. Asia competed on "Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition" and proved to be a dynamic dancer who can project emotions facially better than most dancers twice her age. Her mother Kristie Ray is the typical stage mother in some ways. She pushes Asia to stay on track and follow a strict regimen of practice, diet and training. The difference is that Asia herself is personally driven. She expects as much from herself as her mother expects. It is unusual to see that degree of dedication to a cause from one so young.Kristie used to compete in fitness competitions. Asia's father, Sean Ray, was a world class bodybuilder. So both of them know about performance and professionalism. But Kristie pretty much runs Asia's career while Sean takes care of their younger daughter, Bella Blu Ray. This separation of duties allows each of them to specialize and optimize their efforts. But Sean wants to become more involved in Asia's career.Asia's manager is Billy Hufsey, best known for his role in the TV show "Fame". He has a good grasp of the business and, more importantly, a great relationship with Asia and Kristie. Billy coaches Asia in voice with intentions of making her a recording artist. Anthony Burrell is the team choreographer. Being younger than Billy, Anthony sometimes sees Billy's work as old school or amateurish, when Billy is just aiming for a different product. Anthony, who has worked with Beyoncé and many other contemporary recording artists, is frustrated because he thinks Asia should perform works like older contemporary performers.Asia lives in the midst of these four sometimes warring personalities, but she doesn't just survive, she flourishes. Her professional drive is subject to the whims of her own 8-year-old personality, but for the most part she is focused. And the four adults are all dedicated to Asia (her success and well-being), no question. The family unit, though often under stress, is strong. This is a family where every member is respected. And you will seldom see a spousal relationship where husband and wife are so dedicated to each other. This is a good base for surviving in show business.A few performers have achieved global stardom through strength of will--notably Dolly Parton and Madonna. Asia just might make it.
