Absolutely brilliant

It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review

If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

I wasn't sure what to expect in this show, and was honestly pretty much blown away. It's funny and cute and just kind of great. I appreciate the subtle and not-so-subtle humor, the quirky characters, and the general story-line. The cast works perfectly together and I love how they come together as a community throughout the show. I really appreciate a funny show that gives me the feels (I suppose some may think that the show gets too gooey, but I love it).

Raising hope is an amazing show. The first time i started watching it was about 5 days ago and i'm almost done with the entire show. I just found out its not eve on TV anymore and i was so upset about that. I grew so attached to the characters that i would rather my family be there family. It shows that money isn't such a big deal when you have a loving family to share that experience with you and not fight over money. The personality's of these charterers are so different that you almost feel like you know them personal. I would give this a rating of 20 stars of i could. They need to put raising hope back on the air because these are the kind of shows people should be watching these days.

If there was a rating level more than 10 then i would sure love to give it the maximum no matter what. This show far exceeded my expectations. Decent story with single guy raising his daughter, that was all i knew when i saw its description. The thing i was amazed by in the entire show was the two main characters, Garret and Martha for their role of Burt and Virginia. I have to say these two are the most realistic couple i have ever sever seen. Anyway all the characters were amazing specially Maw Maw and the cute Hope. But everything seemed connected to the main couple (V and B chance). The way they showed every cute little detail is far more better than anything i have ever seen. There was not a single episode where i didn't laughed. The comedy in it was not stupid which i hate but more of a sense full, i mean everything they did for jimmy, there was a good reason behind it.There is not too much to say, my brain right now is full of happy memories of this show and they are so mixed up that i am unable to come up with any good explanation. If you are like me that likes movies in category like drama, family, comedy then you will 100% like this and you will thank me for recommending it.I can easily call it the best family/comedy show i have seen in 2014.10/10

Like others have said, no I wouldn't want to watch this show based on its premise. While scanning netflix I passed over this time and time again. Slowly I've learned that the very things I pass by are the things I wind up loving. So I decided to test that theory and watch this show, no way another tired old sitcom would hold my interest. The theory holds. This show is amazing. I don't think the family is crazy or dysfunctional at all. Are the story lines exaggerated? Yes. But it seems like the creator of this show said "ok, how can we take real life and make it funny. The whole show needs a you-had-to-be-there feel to it." The best part of this show is that it is heartwarming. Everyone loves each other. They don't just put up with each other. There is good natured ribbing, but it isn't cruel. These guys are a team, and they do what it takes to take care of each other. This borders on slapstick, and I hate slapstick. But every time a site gag is offered, it seems likely, not idiotic. It doesn't fall for the same old tired jokes. You THINK you see a set up for the same pratfall they use in all the sitcoms, the same miscommunication, but this show has its characters quickly outsmart and sidestep this and move the joke into brand new territory. Because of this they don't do a whole show based on one mistaken word/id/gesture etc, each show covers lots of territory. Very very ODD territory. But still somehow believable. THERE IS NO VILLAIN. None. I thought the manager of the grocery store would be the bad guy. Nope. He has his own quirks, he loves his employees and he even sometimes gets in on the fun. And Cloris Leachman. She's having fun. She has always had fun, but she has paid her dues and she can really let it all hang out. This is what Betty White would be doing if she didn't have to live up to the Betty White Hype. SPOILER? At one point she is watching old home movies and when she sees herself she says something to the effect of "that woman looks like the hussy on Mary Tyler Moore." All of this is great. But does it bring the laughs? Yes, over and over. Every actor is milking their character in every scene. I never watch things twice, but I find myself showing people this show and when watching it a second time I'll find things I didn't see before and laugh out loud. Example: Burt wears a shirt that says "I'd rather be in Virginia." Knowing those two, he would.
