Good concept, poorly executed.

It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

It's on of the best American comedies and since I love shows about music bands I really enjoyed it and by the way Ruby and Jordan are the best characters.I love teenage characters in TV shows.the only problem is I can't watch the original series.only on fox series middle east which features censorship.for me it was so interesting that i fell for it within the first two episodes.i recommend it to everybody throughout the world to watch it.having half an hour of fun mixed with music is something that every one is looking for and it is entertaining mostly for teenagers and young adults.thanks to the creator the show is not boring and you laugh along with the whole episode.it's just that I wish there was a second season for it and we could continue watching it.

Keeping in mind this show is supposed to be for teenagers. Teenagers who can NOT think or see bad acting & ideas.I have watched some of the episodes because I am Partridge Family fan since its debut 39 years ago.So, the Cassidy Brothers are behind this. They did NOT think too much about plot or even cast names. David & Patrick characters are David & Patrick. Shaun produced & Ryan works on the set. I think ABC Family got a cheap deal using David as they name in it.You get tired in about 2 seconds of the oldest teenage boy attracted to his cousin. That should have STOPPED after the characters were established as family members.Not much acting required for this show. The characters have no depth. Same facial expressions.We get, David as a former rock star.Even the episode where Shirley guest starred. Worth to see her, David & real life son Patrick on screen together. The young woman who plays Ruby Alexa Vega , cute but not very talented. You forget her in a minute.The other son, slightly over weight with an occasional smart line. Gee, I think they need to work a lot harder if they were trying to get a clone of Danny. He had timing. Unless you are a fan of David or Shaun's & want to see their work do NOT bother with this light weight fluff.

Wasted a half-hour of my life last night on this "comedy". As if the whole premise wasn't bad enough, the set-up was awful. This girl shows up, and informs the has-been pop star that she's his kid, and he just accepts it! Not only accepts it, but dumps the kid on the brother he has been feuding with for the last 20 years, who also accepts her! Makes sense to me, too!The hook is that the brothers were a big Wham!-like pop act 20 years ago. Their "video" has them don these silly wigs and lip-sync to this retched song while a girl (now married to one of the brothers) does her best Tawny Kitaen. The "video" is so lame, they don't even bother to make the brothers and the girl look 20 years younger! The brother who gets dumped on, now pushing SUVs, longs for the good old days, while his son (a graduate of The I'm SO Hot School of Acting) wants to be Kurt Cobain when he grows up. And naturally, Ruby, who can't carry a tune, has delusions of musical greatness.David ought to be ashamed for whoring out a sorry episode of his life. And Shaun -- I just want to kick myself for having the biggest crush on you! You're not only a sell-out, you're a hack! And you weren't even that good of a singer!

I just watched the pilot of this so-called show, and that was the worst 23 minutes of this year this far. The terrible, lousy actors are actually better at their jobs than the people adding the fake laughs. Every single line of dialogue is followed by laugh-in-a-box, no matter what is being said.It has a shallow plot about a teenage girl meeting her father for the first time, and sadly that is the smallest cliché in this show.I could go on and on rambling about the lousiness of this program, but I'll just leave you with an advice: Do not waste your time.Seriously.
