Brenda The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

tankace As far as animated series go I am pretty sure the number which I have watch is in the the hundreds ,so I believe that I am by default an expert into the subject and I can judge Sonic even though I am not a gamer. So as it is obvious the series was made in order to increase sells of the games , but it wasn't just a trick to sell more ,it was fine to watch and the adventures of this hedgehog were funny and it didn't bored me as a kid.The problem is that the series didn't try to be something more memorable, the crew clearly try to make it a good kid show in order Sony sell more video games. When the starting point is that it can go so much until show becomes to stupid even for a child. Likely the series ended after two years so it manage to save itself from becoming awful.As far as kids show goes it isn't Batman (1992) ,Dragonballs(1989) ,Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles( various) or Spiderman (1993) and similar projects which were praised for their style and are simple put awesome. It isn't so bad that it becomes a historic for their awfulness like, Fanboy and Chum Chum, Dora and many of the nickelodeon series nowadays. It is in the middle and the fact it wasn't on the air for a long time, only two seasons and twenty six episodes long, it erased quickly from the memory of the children who watch it. For real in IMDb the rating are just above 3000!In the end fine ,but forgettable and if you are only a gamer you may knowing or if you have the memory of an elephant and you still remember it.

dobrien4587 When I found this after the nostalgia critic's review, I could not believe that ABC canceled this! The fact of the matter is, Sonic the Hedgehog, or SonicsatAM, was simply put, fantastic.Unlike other shows based on video games, this show had effort. It had a strong consistent plot, characters that developed, great animation, and just kept many watchers hooked.The story centered around our hero Sonic and a group of freedom fighters trying to free the planet Mobius from the rule of the evil Dr. Robotnik. Robotnik is actually threatening if you can believe it. He has a dark evil personality and a dark evil voice, an army of robots, a henchman named Snively, and a machine called the robotisiser.Each episode basically involved Sonic and the freedom fighters either breaking into Robotnik's layer and sabotaging one of his creations, or just simply fighting off his attacks. The freedom fighters consist of Princess Sally Apricorn, Antione, Tails, Rotter, and Bunny Rabot. All these characters developed, except for Antoine. Antoine really just bugged me, he was the french stereotype, and was Meant for comic mischief. Sally is by all means 100 times more likable than Amy, she is basically one of the leaders of the freedom fighters (as well as Sonic's love interest) Bunny is a half bunny half robot who was saved just before she was fully robotized.Rotter is the handy-man, but he was much better in the first season. Snively is Robotnik's henchman and nephew, who until the end of the series was just abused by Robotnik.Now I bet some of you are wondering, why did i give this series only 9 and not 10 stars? Well let me turn you to the last episode and what I consider to be the absolute BIGGEST cliffhanger of all time! On the season 2 finale, Sonic and Sally set out to destroy Robotnik's Doomsday Machine. They are successful and as Robotnik tries to escape, he is ultimately caught in the explosion of the machine, the freedom fighters celebrate, Sonic and Sally share a kiss, and all is well right? WRONG! Back at the ruins, it turns out Snively had hid in a pod under the base and survived the explosion and is excited to see that Robotnik is gone, he plans to take over and succeed where Robotnik failed. He also claims that he is not alone as a pair of glowing red eyes appear in the pod next to him.Now that all sounds cool right? Well its too damn bad we may never know what happened considering ABC leaders shut the show down because of Power Rangers. (Go to fans united for sonicsatam for more info)The series ended on a cliffhanger and to this day annoys people to no end. its sad to see such a great show end like this, just when it was getting better too.What more can I say about the show except one of Sonic's catchphrases "Its way past cool!"

kinetsmac What I am about to say has absolutely NOTHING to do with the fact that I'm extremely nostalgic about this gem of a cartoon.This one of the greatest children's shows ever aired.I was five years old when it premiered, and the moment I saw it on my grandfathers television, I was hooked. It was the perfect balance of dark and comical; Jaleel White (a.k.a. Urkel) as the blue blur himself was a delight to behold and listen, able to convincingly shift from corny sarcasm to painful conviction, all within the safe boundaries of a childs understanding, allowing both older and younger audiences to love the show. Heck, me and my mother watched it every Saturday, making Sonic a sort of family staple for me.What makes this show so special, more than anything else I believe, is that it follows next to NOTHING from the Sega brand video game its based on. Most of the memorable cast were made up just for the show, and its very interesting how deeply intertwined these American brand characters have been placed into the franchise. Instead of a lame video game ripoff plot (Cough, Sonic X, Cough) this show actually has a deep, even RISKY, storyline, dabbling in incredibly dark themes like loss of family, enslavement, brainwash, betrayal, and assassination. Dr. Robotnick is nothing like any cartoon villain that has been seen for quite a while, and is above and beyond any of his recent incarnations in the games or other franchises. Like the Joker from Batman the Animated series, the bad doctor is truly intimidating, controlling the planet Mobius with a, literally, iron fist, wrenching families apart and transforming them into brainless automatons with a Nazi-esq. motivation.Its sad that this series was cut short past its forceable prime, and that all the sonic shows since have so greatly paled in comparison. In a post 9/11 world, studio execs feel the need to constantly neuter even the slightest bit of darkness or intelligence out of anything animated. While the reasons for this are justifiable, early Ninties shows like Sonic SatAM are proof that the balance is possible, and should definitely be reinstated.

tmazanec1 I was born in 1958, so I was mature when I saw this series. And it is a mature cartoon (I did not say adult because of the negative connotations of that word). It is not toddler stuff like AoStH, it is not the bizarre mix of light and dark like Sonic Underground (which has a tone that strikes me as wearing a Hell's Angel leather jacket and a ballet tutu, with its Robotnik and musical numbers), it is not a good but not great cartoon like Sonic X. I still get chills when I think of the animals being marched in to be roboticized at the start of "Blast to the Past", or when Uncle Chuck says that the roboticized animals are still aware and not unconscious...they know they are obeying Robotnik's evil orders, they are just helpless to avoid them. My favorite was Antoine...I have Asperger's Syndrome, and I have often had problems relating to other people, like Antoine does. The other characters had minor character flaws (especially Sonic), but he seemed the most realistic. And in Sonic X there is a memorable scene where the President looks out the Oval Office window and muses "He might win!" In this series, he has won. Not like the silly giant gold Robotnik statue in AoStH, you get to see what a Robotnik victory would really be like, and you FEEL for the tiny band of Freedom Fighters fighting hopeless odds against an evil tyrant. Even Sally, at the start of "Blast to the Past", post-mortems her failure to save the roboticized animals and the says something like "Oh it's hopeless...Robotnik has all the cards!" I will never forgive the Power Rangers for giving ABC the excuse they needed to cancel the third season, leaving loose threads (just WHAT was Naugus...a mutant?) and a cliffhanger.
