plex I put the failure of this show directly on Kelley's shoulder. It may make some bank, and its insipidly inane enough enough to gain traction on the mostly senile audience which is CBS ( see Two Broke Girls, Mike & Molly, & the lets beat a dead horse show: 2.5 Men,). Sure, CBS would be foolish to pass up a Kelley pitch for a new show, he has had a solid career. Sure, the producers would be foolish to pass up Robin Williams. With a career that encases "Good Morning Vietnam, Mrs. Doubtfire, Awakenings, and Good Will Hunting" along with historical stand-up that goes back to the 70's Troubadour, and Mork & Mindy, like him or not, thats a resume just about any performer would be proud to have. But just as Robin lost his mojo when got sobered up, so has Kelley when he didn't change with the 2010's. The show is plastic and one-dimensional with no dynamics or climax. The supporting characters are annoying, weak and vapid. Once again, we get another sitcom based in the ad-agency world, which resembles nothing to the ad-agency world, which I could have forgiven had the show been more likable and credible, and the supporting cast ( which has experience) be more supportive and less self-aware. The only few bright moments are Williams ad-libs, but even those are watered-down for prime-time, and draw from a less inspired place.
fuzzybootsf I love the show. It's kind of like the old times when comedy ruled. Too many reality shows on TV these days because they are cheap to make. I miss the time when there were a lot of comedy's. Robin Williams is very good he would be better if he had more leeway on the show. Too many cop shows also and dramas just not enough laughter in the world these days. A show should make you feel good. Tonight's show was hilarious. I especially like the little add ins at the end of the show. I just wish there was more family comedy on television these days also wouldn't hurt to put something in like Carol Burnett or laugh in on the channel I am sure you would get better ratings. People want to laugh there is too much seriousness in this world. We need laughter.
snowbell38 I am so disappointed with this series. I was looking forward to the Robin Williams I grew up watching and was hoping for a series my kids could watch and laugh at. I don't even dare turn on the episodes unless they are not even in the house. It is completely full of inappropriately disgusting sexual innuendo. I couldn't finish watching the latest episode. I was trying really hard to give it some time but I am done watching. So sorry this was the best they could come up with for Robin Williams. :( Terrible plot, too. The daughter should not have to try and suck up but she be honored for the qualities she can bring.
Bill Jordan It's funny how the first few reviews are quite negative and nearly all after are more or less stellar. As for my wife and I, we've watched three episodes and nary a smile has reshaped our lips. Seems like they are basically depending on Williams to ad-lib the funny stuff, and either he's just not that funny anymore or he has nothing to work with. And to make matters worse, they try to ad some sap at the end (as is so common in today's sitcoms) to tug at your heartstrings. How 'bout just going "It's Always Sunny in Philladelphia" people and trying to be nothing more than funny? I realize people have different tastes, so I imagine some do legitimately like this show, but as for my wife and I, we won't be making an effort to watch any more episodes. I suspect there won't be many more anyway.
