Reviews

Libramedi Intense, gripping, stylish and poignant
ShangLuda Admirable film.
Doomtomylo a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
Scarlet The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
reneelink It's a shame it was cancelled, this was a great show, good acting and storyline.
aguilarellenam The Family encompasses the tragic, yet interesting story of a family who lost its youngest member Adam Warren. The family, after having assumed that Adam was murdered, are shocked to hear of his return and quickly welcome him into the family. The plot from this point onward becomes very clear: find out who kidnapped and assaulted Adam and put him behind bars. Sounds interesting, but overall, was pretty mediocre. The mystery was too simple and very predictable. The kidnapper was obviously incredibly intelligent, but there wasn't very much that we learn about him throughout the entirety of the show. The same with Adam, regardless of the fact that the series centers around him, there isn't much depth in the portrayal of personality and we, as the viewers, are thrown random tidbits of how he behaved as an 8-year-old: such as the hatred of the smell of eggs and the stuffed monkey. Also, that "red dragon breathing fire right at me" thing was never really cleared up, as were many things that sporadically occur and never get any more coverage. The story, however, was relatively easy to follow, and I somewhat enjoyed the jump cuts back in time to show what occurred 10 years ago versus present day; although those transitions could have used a little work. Story-wise, I feel that everything that occurred was very unrelieved and in some instances, loosely connecting. It seemed that for some plot points, more detail should have been provided before forcing it on the viewer. I only truly enjoyed the very last few minutes of the series as it was very unexpected. However, again, it felt as though some things needed to be expanded, on which I'm assuming was the purpose. In total, I feel as though this show was a watered down attempt at a detective show and left more to be desired. The plot was interesting, but the delivery was a bit disappointing. Also, what was with them constantly saying "I googled it"?? Was it an attempt at "getting with the times", or what? I gave this series a 7 out of 10 because it was pretty entertaining, but felt too much like a watered down version of Broadchurch. They bare a lot of resemblance, save for the fact that the quality of this show is muck lower.
kimberlymyerson such a disappointment. the writing is about as bad as I have seen on mainstream television. no twists. horribly easy to predict. a joke. the head writer should be fired and never find work again. it is hard to believe this is the best they can come up with. i was hoping it was going to be at least decent but it turned out as bad as i could have imagined. very predictable. acting is OK, writing is bad. they could make it a decent show with some of the cast they have. they need someone that knows how to write and maybe these actors could make something of it. i am guessing it will not be renewed as it has not gotten good ratings. i am finding now that Netflix and Amazon are coming out with the best series. it is funny how things have shifted.
USN-Retired Story telling is an art form. While there are many elements, plot development is basic. Then, there is conflict and struggle, and eventually some sort of resolution, either good (makes us happy) or bad (makes us sad or unhappy). Things can get complicated, surprising, confounding, and confusing, but in the end the story must have a resolution/ending. Unfortunately, this series was canceled after the first season was in the can. Perhaps it was unwise to try to stretch this story beyond one season. The entire story begs NOT to be a soap or a serial. Exactly where do you go once the conflicts are resolved with this plot? NO WHERE. And that's the problem. Someone decided mid-stream to stretch the series into another season. That's the way it was filmed. So, with no resolution to the conflicts, where does one go after seeing the last and final episode? Nowhere. I bet many will decide the time invested in watching this show is wasted.
