Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.

The show is very plot driven and quickly declines after the big twist is revealed. The characters are not that interesting or funny, except for Janet. She's the only thing - not a girl - that makes the show worth watching.

I haven't been into comedies for a long time. Dramadies, yes. Otherwise, nope. One night, I was looking for something on Netflix, but didn't want to spend a lot of TIME looking. I saw this title, read the description and hit play.I ended up watching both seasons over a matter of three days. After finishing Season 1, I found Season 2 On-Demand (Comcast.) Laugh out loud funny. You will want to devour every episode.

I can honestly say I became addicted to this show from the moment I saw trailer on youtube. Than I watched the first episode and I was like: "Heck, yes!"
It's something completely different than most of us are used to watching. Ending of season one was AMAZING! I mean, honestly, I LOVE twists and it's been a long time since I've seen any twist that was this good. I started asking myself - what can they possibly do in season 2? Isn't this IT? But than, season 2 started, and once again, I was blown away. Cast is awesome, dialogues are great, writing amazing, and entire story is just perfect.
Kristen Bell proved us once more that every movie or TV show she is in, is worth watching.
10/10 guys. And I can not wait for season 3 to come out!

After seeing a few different articles talking about how The Good Place was massively underappreciated and deserved a bigger following, I decided to tune in on Netflix. I binge watched the first season and while I won't be posting about how this show was an amazing find, I'm happy to say I'll be following this series from now on. The first thing that I noticed about The Good Place was that despite dealing with big ideas like the nature of good and evil and featuring a self-involved jerk of a protagonist, this show is surprisingly family friendly. They talk about dark material but there's no swearing, limited action (and its all tame) and they talk about sex but there's no nudity or risque material. This is okay, it helps the show reach a bigger demographic and they poke fun at it (using the word fork instead of %$^@). I would like the show to have a little more of an edge but I'm content about the subject matter being the way it is.We have a couple of big names in the cast, but they also bring in some new faces. Kristen Bell was a strong choice as Eleanor, she's one of the few actors or actresses out there can play a nasty or mean character but still remain easy to like. The balancing act that she pulls off with her acting skills and charisma is impressive. Ted Danson is easy to like as Michael. He's so good in the role that he helps make the twist at the end of season 1 even more surprising. I don't know his body of work too well, I've only seen him in this and in Fargo, but he was and is great in both shows. William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, D'Arcy Carden and Manny Jacinto round out the rest of the regular cast as Chidi, Tahani, Janet and Jason. They are all funny as supporting players and overcome their characters hitting the same notes a few too many times. The Good Place is at its best when they're playing around with the concept of the afterlife and what would it take to be in The Good Place or The Bad Place. They routinely talk about torture methods, why celebrities ended up in The Bad Place and what consequences come from what actions. The plot isn't complicated, but they do build in some twists and the end of the first season had a big one. The characters are fun and although they do play off the same personality quirks of the main characters (Chidi's indecisiveness, Tahani's arrogance, Eleanor's selfishness etc.), they find ways to keep things fresh and keep the laughs coming.I also like the fact they aren't afraid to switch things up, the story is always progressing, and they aren't content to sit back and let the show become stale. This doesn't fall into the category of must-see entertainment, but this was diverting enough and funny enough to come back to. If you're looking for a show that has a decent concept, some funny jokes and is more on the tame side, The Good Place is well worth a try.
