Synopsis

Laura Diamond, a brilliant NYPD homicide detective balances her “Columbo” day job with a crazy family life that includes two unruly twin boys and a soon-to-be ex-husband — also a cop — who just can't seem to sign the divorce papers. Between cleaning up after her boys and cleaning up the streets, she’d be the first to admit she has her “hot mess” moments in this hilariously authentic look at what it really means to be a “working mom” today. Somehow, she makes it all work with the help of her sexy and understanding partner, and things becomes even more complicated when her husband, ironically, becomes her boss at the precinct. For Laura, every day is a high-wire balancing act.

Softwing Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??
SteinMo What a freaking movie. So many twists and turns. Absolutely intense from start to finish.
Sameer Callahan It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
Cassandra Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
xhidden99 Standard cookie cutter cop comedy with pretty much the same thing every Ep. It's like a Toyota Corolla of TV shows. To its credit it really IS a mystery. It's not Columbo where you know who dunnit in the first 2 minutes. The writing the dialog are adequate. The sidekicks are sufficiently sidekicky. Based on a Spanish show of the same name it seems an odd choice to develop for American audiences. But it's solid. It's as 'mysterious' why it got cancelled after 28 Eps 2 seasons as why it was made in the first place. One irritating thing is the ceaseless unrelenting Grrrrllĺ power schtick. We get it. Males are idiots who would accidentally kill themselves if they didn't have women to wipe their butts for them. But I chalk that up to Uber Hillary girl boner Debra Messing.
Tweekums This entertaining cop show is set in New York and follows the eponymous Detective Laura Diamond as she and her colleagues solve a variety of murders. Things are slightly complicated by the fact that her captain, Jake, is also her ex-husband and back home she has a couple of rather wild twin boys to look after. In many ways this is a very traditional series; there is a different case in each episode and we just know that Laura will ultimately solve the case. Thankfully that doesn't make the series stale; it has plenty of funny moments without feeling too forced and the characters are a lot of fun. Away from the cases there is the constant will-they won't-they regarding the possibility of Laura and Jake getting back together. Debra Messing is great in the lead role and is able supported by Josh Lucas as Jake, Janina Gavankar and Laz Alonso as fellow detectives Meredith and Billy and Max Jenkins as office boy Max Carnegie. There is a good chemistry between the characters in what is for the most part a feel good series; there are moments of tragedy though. Overall I'd recommend this to anybody looking for a cop show that isn't part of a franchise like so many current series seem to be.
Erik Saliba I watch a lot of TV series, and I can easily say that I have never liked a series from the first episode (pilot). I usually come here on IMDb, read a few reviews, and if I like what I see I watch the first 3-5 episodes of the series before deciding to continue watching or not. With 'The Mysteries of Laura' I saw several people bashing the series, saying it's too cliché, etc... but I decided to give it a shot anyway because I like cop shows.20 minutes in I was hooked! The show features the life of a brilliant homicide detective (Laura) who is recently divorced and has two young twin boys. Every episode revolves around a case which Laura is working while also dealing with crazy situations arising from her home life.In my opinion, the creators of 'The Mysteries of Laura' did a perfect job of marrying crime and comedy. Somehow the crime solving aspect is never done away with or watered down, but in my opinion is made lighter and more enjoyable with the comedic effect Laura's character contributes.Worth a watch!
trochetorres I must admit I was not crazy about the pilot episode. I kind of liked it but really didn't like the way the kids were portrayed. It was just too much. I gave it a chance and haven't missed and episode since. I love suspense and USED to like comedy but most comedy shows out there are ridiculous. This is just right for me... looking to solve the mysteries and a couple of giggles along the way. Well made show, great supporting actors/actresses and Debra Messing delivers a great performance. And by the way, I was never a Debra Messing fan before and disliked her pathetic character on Will and Grace. Thumbs up for her on this show!
