The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

I have to admit that there are times when the acting can be a bit cheesy, however I can over look it due to the impact on my life it has had. This was a show I watched briefly back in 2004 here in America on WAM! which was an Encore sub-channel. The basic plot of the story is that in this world in which all of the adults were wiped out from a virus and the only people left alive are children and teenagers. The show centers around a tribe called The Mallrats who are trying to make a better world for everyone even through all of the horrors. Some of the actors and actresses were on various other shows such as Xena, Hercules, a slue of Power Rangers series and most recently Fear of the Walking Dead. This is a great program in my opinion, again mostly due to the impact it has had on my life, worth watching since you are able to watch it on YouTube now since the only other way is to buy out of print imports.

SPOILER WARNING: better to be safe. May contain slight spoilers, but only if you watch it will you pick up on them.Have you ever seen one of those shows were it were mainly kids messing around? Well this is one of those shows. I happened stumbled upon it accidentally. I was bored one morning so flicked on Five. 'The Tribe' happened to be on at that specific time, and I was instantly smitten with the show. It's amazing that these teenagers and younger kids have managed to survive in a world where adults, school, routine and rules no longer exist. They have their moments, ones where they want to kill each other (who doesn't?!), but overall, they learn to look after each other. I differently recommend this show. It's use of dialogue, emotion, costume, lighting, things like that is phenomenal (is that right?!).

About a year ago I switched to digital cable, with it came about 200 new channels. About a week later I ran into this odd looking show that had teenage kids in weird clothing and tattoos on their faces. I honestly didn't know what to think about the show, but after the first several episodes I was hooked (I started around the middle of the 3rd season) I have seen only the 3rd and 4th seasons, or series as they are called and I am addicted. I won't go as far as painting my face for em but I've considered it once or twice. The thing that amazes me is that Cloud 9, the production group that makes The Tribe isn't the most well funded film company in the world. But they have used every last dollar (or whatever currency is used in New Zealand) they have to make this show so good. The cast (which most have appeared on Hercules and Xena, as well as the Power Rangers)is talented enough to give their character's personality. The sets are believable, the outfits are are amazing, and the fact that most of the actors are dulling down their heavy Aussie accents is impressive enough. For those that haven't seen the show before are best to look at it like a Live Action Anime, not the ultra Kung-Fu kind, but the soap opera kind (Ranma,Chobits, etc.) It's a good show that pretty much makes gold from the budget of straw that they have. 10/10

The Tribe is a fantastically different teen drama set in post-apocalyptic times after a deadly virus has wiped out all the adults and the kids have to now survive on their own and create a world in their image. Great dramatic story lines make for great viewing and don't ignore the harsh reality of what teenagers have to go through (especially with no adult imput), with story lines such as teenage pregnancy, bulimia, bullying and different tribes fighting against each other for survival and these are just a few of them... All series so far have been fantastic and many people are eagerly waiting for series 6 as am I. Not to be missed! Plus a great selection of new acting talents including Tom Hern and James Napier!
