There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

Let's jump into it. I absolutely hate it, when producers cast Israeli/British/Australian/Swedish/American/Belgian etc. actors to play Muslims. This show isn't representative of anything. This plot is nothing special. There's nothing daring about this. It's mostly melodramatic propaganda.Barhom and Atias were good most of the time. Finnegan is terrible. Just terrible. Her role would've demanded a more emotional performance. One thing that bugged me. The gay son 'story-arch', if one can call it that. Why? Why would the writers do this? They obviously tried to fill a void, but guess what? They failed. Too many stereotypes. All over the place. There's only one way that this show could've been good or even great. Authentic actors, spoken Arabic with English subtitles with the same production value and a better script. 3.7/10 for the beautiful actresses.

I don't exactly know why!?! But in the new season of this series which used to be good, they are portraying ISIS( caliphate) as somehow a moderate group of rebels! Since when women are allowed to go out without full hijab (abaya and burqa) !?!? There are Shariia patrol all the time to catch and punish the slightest of deviation! A guy wearing jeans and sun glasses was reading newspaper in caliphate territory in a cafe!?! The leader (which would be al-baghdadi) is a very gentle man that has a very romantic relationship with his wife! (And only one wife!! Since when?? ) He plays with kids like some good daddy!! A woman says she even liked her jihadi forced husband! How gentle he was!! Really!?? Why don't you ask yazidi women about their experience!!! There's no showing of killing people by them! And somehow the government is the only villain!! I guess the board of writers and directors are recruiting agents of ISIS! I strongly condemn this series! Complete disappointment! you are disrespecting all of those who have been killed, raped, tortured and displaced by this series

I have only watched the first season and two episodes of the second season, so my review is based on this more limited portion of the series. The vast mass of people that provide the backdrop in this series live in a world of poverty. The focus of the show, the ruling family and its close relations, live in a world of wealth accumulated through oil.The drama that unfolds and the ensuing dilemmas that each character must face are well thought out. The most minute details are shared, along with their thoughts and feelings. The only detraction to the series, is the wife and children of the protagonist, Barry. His wife is inept, obnoxious, and provides little value either to him or to the show. Her lines are either banal platitudes or trite complaints. This is in contrast to his sister-in-law, Leila. Every line has an importance. Her views may be incorrect or immoral, but they add substance.Overall, I am very much a fan of this show and give it a 9/10.

Before you have even seen the opening credits you know that this is another attempt at a cinematic expurgation of ethnic crimes against humanity. While bums remain on seats and fodder is introduced in the form of popcorn entertainment most Americans without passports will be pacified by this expensive portrayal of their popular historical interventions abroad. The dutiful W.A.S.P doctor wife in flowing gowns supporting her husband in times of strife is incredible and very worrying for anyone who is terrified of beige, sensible figure hugging skirts and striking bosoms. Quite HOW anyone could identify with the 'prez' who is off the scale of anyone's idea of a spectrum concerning pathetic fallacy is beyond, beyond belief. Autism has been covered by more enlightened Hollywood actors. This is a blatant FY to Rachel and her friends who famously decried and burnt a photograph of a man with a hairy back in a wildly popular witchcraft television scene. You can almost smell the cash that wasn't paid at union rates to the hordes of 'extras' unwittingly caught up in this propaganda charade. A must see if only for a hidden erection.
