Premise of this show is good, but execution not so much. I watched first half of first season any quit, it was just not funny or interesting. Satire authors were going for was childish and idiotic on so many levels. Political segment was disappointing, as it was downplayed for humor aspect in very, very bad way. I might be wrong but vice president of USA have office in White House what makes some of the most forced elements of the show ridiculously bad.

I recently started an Amazon Prime trial, and as I was browsing through the available shows I happened upon Veep and thought it was worth a look. After all, I like both Seinfeld and The New Adventures of Old Christine -- it seemed like Veep would be along the similar genre lines. Well it may be a similar genre but the preponderance and relevance of swear words ruined the show. After watching just the first few minutes of the first episode of the first season I was dismayed by having to listen to the characters repeat the f-word over and over like a broken record. It was as though the show was written by a pack of juvenile delinquent adolescent school boys jotting down lines while skipping class and smoking cigarettes, competing for who could include the f-word the most times in a given dialogue.

This is the kind of show with blink and you miss it jokes. You have to pay rapt attention to detail and though it does aim to be funny, its not that funny. The humor is clever and dark and mostly dry/witty/sarcastic. The casting though is perfect and I really must say that Julia Louis does not disappoint. I especially like the Mike character because he seldom knows what is going on and his expressions are priceless. I know it got an emmy and all the brouhaha but it is all right. If you're looking for laughs this show is not for you. But if you like cerebral humor, it is right up your alley. 7 stars is what I think it deserves.

I remember I was skeptical of Veep at first. I never really saw the humor in political stuff. I sat down to watch the first episode... and within minutes I was howling with laughter.Veep is basically about the whirlwind life of Vice President Selina Meyer and her incompetent team who keep messing things up, with hilarious consequences. Veep's humor is clever and rapid-fire. There is a lot of strong language in it, but don't be put off by that. It just makes it funnier.I would recommend keeping watching after season one. Season one might be a bit iffy because it was still finding itself. Seasons two and three savagely hilarious, and I hear season four is just as funny. Watch Veep, I guarantee you'll cry laughing.
