Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

...Anything really! It has been a while since I bombed into a serie without any fantasy. Its situated in Sweden but they all speak english. Why make a remake in the first place...? I just dont get it. Cop is struggling with his private life. Thats about it...

I dislike facial hair on men in general and particularly dislike this fad of "stubble." When I saw the funeral setting that, of course, our overwrought detective MUST attend to further beat himself up, I thought - maybe he'll shave and look respectable. No. When he made a date with beautiful woman, did he shave? No. Evidently he shaves just enough to get "stubble," which I must say does not hide the puffy face and sinking jowls. If I had to work with this bundle of neuroses and questionable judgement, I'd put in for a transfer before he got me killed or fired.

Kenneth Branagh is a masterful performer (Henry V) one of my favorite to this day- in such a low budget, he (and others)acted that movie to greatness. I never knew of this series till I was recently speaking of him to some others after seeing him. I was told he was on Wallander. I was sad to know I had missed supporting his career in this, but excited, because I loved Henning Mankell (read Before the Frost first - wow!). Kenneth Branagh and Mankell!!! I was on board, recently started at the beginning and His acting was Excellent!!! Thank you Kenneth,BBC, and Henning!!! Great Acting truly is an art to be appreciated!!! He has always inspired me and would love to see him in more top roles. I love his producing and directing also.

If you like the genre, you will be absolutely astonished and overwhelmed by these 4 series of BBC TV production of Inspector Wallander, based on the brilliant and highly appreciated novels written by the gifted and much loved Swedish writer Henning Mankell, whom I personally sadly and deeply miss, since the very first day after his death. It is a very high quality product, from every point of view. The producers, the director, and every single actor involved in the making of these fantastic series have given their best in order to offer a really special final result. And what can be said about Kenneth Branagh that hasn't still been said? I have to say that as far as I'm concerned, the success of this project has basically been achieved thanks to him. He always works at his best, this is not new. But probably this work is something he has strongly loved and wanted. And everyone can see it just from the beginning of the very first episode of the first series. Good job, man, very well done!!!!
