Taraparain Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Usamah Harvey The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
dkeaildrulx Since this show is from Australia and I am from Canada, this show was fairly unknown to me. However, a friend recommended this TV show. The show was available on Netflix which made it very accessible. This is the best TV recommendation anyone has ever given me.The story-line has some similarities to 'Orange Is The New Black' referring to a female prison and the difficulties. However, this show is far superior compared to OITNB. The storytelling, character development, and tension building is amazing. The season arcs and pay offs are very satisfying. The stand-out performances are Kate Atkinson (Vera Bennett), Danielle Cormack (Bea Smith), Pamela Rabe (Joan Ferguson) and Robbie Magasiva (Will Jackson). However, all the characters become more engaging and interesting throughout the series.I highly recommend this show to anyone reading this.
porquinha_rj I'm from Brazil and I loved watching the series. The plot is wonderful and so are the actors. They are to be congratulated! The way the characters are exploited is very clever and, little by little, I became addicted and curious to know the unfolding of the story. The only negative criticism is about a character who left the series in the fourth season ... she deserved more, much more.
deboraey I just saw episode 3 . . . and decided to stop wasting my time on this very mediocre series! There are - and have been - far and far better TV-series on the subject of "women in prison". One of the best i ever saw was the BBC-series BAD GIRLS (1999) created by Maureen Chadwick, and it ran for 8 seasons! Also superb is/was the more recent ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, that added a completely new dimension on the women-in-prison-subject namely humor; and i highly recommend it. But Wentworth is nothing more than a badly written, poorly acted and directed, completely one-dimension staged leftover with contains elements of different movies and TV-shows on that subject. Furthermore the characters are so completely one-dimension (all-good or all-bad) that it's like the show was written somewhere in 1950. Take my advice . . . don't bother with this . . !
ditziie I put off watching this for a long time, under the false impression that it would just be a different version of 'Orange Is The New Black' (which I do love, but am not really searching for shows similar to it because I don't particularly like jail/prison shows) but man was I wrong. It is NOTHING like OITNB. Their similarities begin and end with it being set in a female prison. When I finally gave in and started watching, I was instantly hooked. Each episode is filled with action and drama and plenty of moments that make you either laugh or cry. The characters are unique and truly wonderfully played, you will quickly grow to love or hate each of them (sometimes both!) and as you learn their backstories you get a sense of really knowing and understanding them. There are some scenes that will literally have you on the edge of your seat, with your heart racing, yelling at the TV. After finishing this, I had to go find 'Prisoner Cell Block H' and give it a try. While it's nowhere near as good as 'Wentworth' (in my opinion) it was definitely neat to see the differences between the two. I'd definitely recommend Wentworth to anyone, I can't think of anyone I know who wouldn't like it, all of my friends who have watched it agree that it is one of their all time favorites! You will be kicking yourself for waiting so long to watch it!
