Reviews

Boobirt Stylish but barely mediocre overall
Fluentiama Perfect cast and a good story
Doomtomylo a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
Calum Hutton It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...
headhunter83 I am really surprised to see that this show has a rating of 5 out of 10 (7784 votes). I believe this is going to be a long and successful comedy show. I feel each episode is getting better then the last. It's got heart and right amount of sarcasm. Like somebody else mentioned it's nice to see the actors laugh and break character at times. Reminds me of Seinfeld. First season of Seinfeld wasn't the best one, it grew and improved over time, something I think is happening to Whitney. Whitney Cummings is a far better actor then Jerry Seinfeld ever was in my opinion. Dan O'Brien is wonderful in his role as Mark. I also like Chris D'Elia, maybe not the best actor but come on, we're talking about a sitcom. Might not be a 10 out of 10 but I give it a 10 to compensate for all the haters :)
John Ackerman I read that this show wasn't getting canceled because Whitney is a friend of Chelsea Lately. This really disappointed me, as I love Chelsea Lately, she is hilarious. If that is true, I cannot believe she stuck her neck out for this show. I personally have never seen Whitney Cummings stand up comedy so I cannot comment on how this show compares to that, but I will tell you that this show is disappointing all around. The characters display the most classic narcissistic behaviors which are always unattractive but this is especially so in these characters because they are in their late thirties and forties and still haven't figured out how to stop being annoying, whiny, a-holes. I don't know who this show was written for, because people in their teens or twenties or even thirties surely don't aspire to be these people. They are more a cautionary tale if anything, but their situations are overdone and predictable. It makes me sad to think about people wasting their lives watching this crap so much so that I felt like it was a kind act to write this review to prevent anyone else from suffering through this show. Another thing is I cannot stand Whitney's voice, as soon as I hear it on a commercial or the show comes on I turn the mute on immediately. Its also really annoying because its in the middle of a good night of line up, luckily using the remote or buttons on the TV require minimal effort to click to another channel while I wait for actually good show (30 Rock, New Girl, Apartment 23, Parks & Rec) to come back on. The star I gave for the show goes to the man Chris Elia? not sure if that is his name, but he gets a star for suffering through this terrible chick flick psycho drama of the ironic girl who turned out to be not ironic...nor that funny. This last point is pretty harsh but it has to be said, a lot of shows on television are terrible, but at least there is some eye candy (think Kim K) so people will watch it, there is absolutely no eye candy on this show so you can't even mute the show and enjoy. Please do your good deed and warn people about this show and let's hope NBC can try to pull something better out of its ass, there are so many better comedians about whom to try to base a show....
filmchaser To all the haters, maybe you just don't get it. Before this sitcom I had never heard of Whitney or Chris, but I find their chemistry undeniable, and the show fresh, entertaining, and believable with its subject matter. Whitney makes her character annoying yet lovable, and Chris makes his character believable as her big, goofy yet kind of a genius boyfriend. I like the supporting characters in the ensemble as well because each one is distinctively different yet equally quirky. The crush Mark has on Roxanne adds spice to the mix and Roxanne's periodic lean toward giving in to Mark provides a titillating sexual tension in the show to keep things interesting. Lily is like a beautiful exotic butterfly coming in and out of scenes so lightly yet leaving the scene with more color than before she entered. Whitney Cummings herself manages to deliver her comedic lines with just enough camp while letting the audience know she knows it is camp. I like that Whitney and her boyfriend Alex laugh at each other because they are funny people, and that just seems natural. I too find the constant audience laughter distracting, but at the same time, it is reminiscent of the early sitcoms like I Love Lucy, which challenges the actors to do it right the first time as in theater instead of shooting every scene over and over until it's perfect. So maybe Whitney is an acquired taste, like scotch. Oddly, at first I didn't think I would like it, but I found myself captivated by how many levels Whitney Cummings has as a comedic actress, and have found the sitcom to be high quality and unpredictable. That's entertainment.
presco1989 When I saw the adverts for this show i thought it seemed pretty funny, then i saw the mixed reviews and i thought i would give it a chance. However whilst watching from the start the bits didn't seem that funny at all, it was too scripted and the acting wasn't great, very flat and no personality. The "live audience" was very annoying and made me cringe every time a comment/joke was made. I know its in all the great comedies but they are actually funny.I did see some potential from Chris D'Elia's character 'Alex' but it didn't really make much of a difference.
